I'll preface this by saying I have done searches so now I'm seeking help. Looking for ideas on upgrading the existing
stereo...keeping the factory 7" head unit. No factory sub currently so I'm guessing amp, sub, swap out speakers. Experiences,
brands and costs. Doesn't seem this info is in any one thread. Let's assume budget of around $2500-$3000.
Thanks all...discuss!

Id highly recommend to swap out the head unit, most head units have pre outs (rca's) which would give you a clean line to the amp/s, and don't have to mess around with line out converters, if you do use one the jl needs resistors to interrupt speaker line to trick the system into sending out the bass frequency to the amp.

With your upper budget of 3k you can probably get a head unit plus all the gear you need to get it set up, a mono amp for your sub, a 4 channel amp for your speakers, run new wires to all your new speakers, get the metra speaker pods so you can have 6.5 inch speakers at the front, ssv works makes a 6.5 adapter for the sound bar.

lots of info here https://www.jlwranglerforums.com/forum/forums/electronics-electrical-uconnect-nav-a-v-cb-cameras.9/

If you’re looking to keep your stock headunit then look into the Alpine PSS 23 WRA. It’s plug and play and you’ll get better sound out of your stock speakers. It’s a little on the pricey but my opinion it was worth every penny. I’ve had mine for 3 months now and haven’t regretted spending the money.

I will start by saying that I have the Alpine system. If you can find one that someone took out their head unit, then upgrade the speakers, I would do that. Phenomenal system.

Appreciate the thought but for $3000 that still leaves no sub and factory speakers. I priced out a system...again appreciate your input. And I understand about adding resistors by keeping the factory head unit.

JL 10" sub
JL rd900/5 amp
2 JL tweeters
2 4" JL speakers

$1929.00

that system gets you an 8inch sub and AMP that goes under the passenger seat, two tweeters and all the plugs To hook up to factory radio. You just need to look at what additional speakers you want to replace. This system is mainly for people who want to add more power to their stock set up. The non Alpine system that comes stock with the Jeep is actually good just needs more power that you don’t get with the stock HU. Pretty sure if you want to full upgrade check the audio section of the forum you’ll find what you need there.

Clarify...JL Stealthbox sub...10" sub not 8"
And agree about not enough power...hence the amp and is there an issue
with under the seat? And 2 replacement 4" speakers. Not sure the point you were trying
to make here. Sorry...old guy here.

Not sure where you’re getting the information. But here are the specs on that system...

What gave you the idea I'm looking at that package. Items I looked at are seperate. I
provided the amp model number...and it's a 10" JL Stealthbox.

There is definitely a disconnect in what you are asking in your first post. You are asking to keep your stock radio but want to get speakers, sub and amp...

The system I am referring to lets you keep your stock HU but adds more power to your existing system (which is actually good). In addition you gain a sub, amp and 2 alpine tweeter speakers... I understand that you want to do a complete swap which is why I've mentioned in an earlier post that the system I mention are for people who want to keep their stock HU but are looking to get more sound out of their current sound system which is actually good just needs more power.

There's no disconnect...you misunderstand. I'm doing the same thing as you just said only
with better options. Buying separately allows a better built system. My first post gave the components of the build. Not buying as a package and I'm still keeping the factory head unit. Seems clear to me. Correction...components were in a follow up post with model numbers. Sorry

Instead of the 4" JL speakers go with the 6.5" Metra Pods and a 6.5" speaker. It is a huge improvement over the 4" for the front sound stage.
