I didn't get it and totally regret it. DEFINITELY a worthwhile upgrade.
There are aftermarket options available. Some are hands down better than the UConnect system and the alpine speakers!

I'm unaware of anything for the JL yet, other than the Kickers tweeters and a few generic upgrades. Do you have more info? That ad appears to be for a JK.

Alpine has announced the one I posted will have a JL equivalent soon. It’s the top-top of the line audio interface which is quite expensive ($3,000). Alpine (as well as other companies) sell complete replacement kits for Wranglers and since the JL is new most are not for sale as of yet but will soon be. You will have several to pick from eventually.

Here’s Alpine’s press release from the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Vegas with exclusive Wrangler products. You can hook up multiple cameras, inputs, run all accessories through it (lights, winches, air compressors, refrigerators, etc.) and even control the power supply (always on, on with accessories, on with engine, etc.)

Wow...you guys are making this Alpine system sound like it's the best thing on earth? I cranked up the music on the 2 Rubicon JL test drives and it sounded OK. However, it's not as good as the Bose or Burmeister I have in my other 2 cars...but now you guys have me wondering if I may have missed something! Can't wait to crank it up in my Rubicon scheduled to arrive this weekend :)
Nothing is more futile or a bigger waste of time than debating something that is entirely subjective, like this.

Go to Your local Dealership and listen to the alpine system! I heard about 30 seconds of music on the system before I realized it was a "must have"!

Got my Rubicon and I change my mind...I would DEFINITELY recommend the audio upgrade! Sounds pretty damn good...

Another strong recommendation here. I was doubly impressed by the sound quality/volume the first time I drove topless and doorless at highway speed.

I've sat in 2 JLU Sport S packages, one with and the other without Alpine audio (both sitting in a field outside with radio and satellite stations used for testing)...
To be honest, the Alpine was capable of much louder volume, but seemed to be lacking in the low-range almost as if the crossover frequency is set too low... The base system (with Loudness on) seemed to cover highs and lows well, but mids were somewhat muddy. I decided against the upgrade as I usually tune for highs and lows anyways.

I spent about 20 minutes moving from an Alpine equipped to standard system...and while there was a difference in volume and bass, the base radio is pretty good. I'm a little torn on the upgrade but based on what I see hear, I think I need to schedule another sound session and test drive. I think the infotainment system also has a few other apps and stuff that you do not get with the base radio?

In all my prior vehicles I have done a custom audio upgrade. This time around I went with the Alpine upgrade and couldn’t be happier! Price is not bad, everything is integrated and the sound is really good! Awsome...probably not, but really good, for sure. Haven’t had any regrets so far!

Yes, I have it and is much better and I actually did compare them on the lot.

It's also pretty impressive how good it sounds for a vehicle with an interior that is definitely not built with acoustics in mind.

To @DanW point, if you like Music, the answer is yes. If not, No. Period.

The Electronic Infotainment System Group is only available on the Sahara and Rubicon. The Electronic Infotainment System Group includes the 8.4” Touch Screen and Alpine Premium Audio System. ($1495 total)

The Sport S offers the Technology Group which includes the 7” Touch Screen. The Alpine Premium Audio System is separate. ($2290 total)
So what does the infotainment system consist of compared to the tech pkg on the sport, other than navigation? Are there capabilities on one not avail on the other?
