I have the i509-JL and although it generally works , the main reason I bought it, which was to play locally stored music, was broken after a firmware update. I've had no luck getting Alpine to even acknowledge that a problem exists so good luck.
But I think that your issue is probably with...
Are you saying that the built-in blower selector does not work or are you talking about a physical switch on the Kenwood? If it's the former, that's quite odd. When you flashed the Maestro, did you double-check that the trim package you selected is correct and that it actually matches what you...
I would think that calling the national tech support line that's listed in the instruction manual would lead me to some kind of path to resolution. But that's the number I get no traction from. I'm provided with no support options whatsoever and was actually told that "you'll know it's been...
I posted my experience with the installation and first impressions of a i509 WRA-JL "Restyle" media unit a while back. This is a very expensive unit but I was willing to fork over the money for it because UConnect was so unwieldy. Although the unit initially worked as advertised, the last 7...
I have a 2018 JLU and in my case, the issue was a bad ground at the connector under the passenger seat. I believe this one grounds most of the components in the center console. What finally provided me an aha moment was when I started getting a new error code of "Lost connection to PRNDL...
I’m quite happy with the i509-WRA-JL. I wanted a device that was focused on music first with everything else a close second. And I wanted something from a company that’s been around a while and could understand that. Alpine did not disappoint.
There is no valid reason for them to pair their phones if I didn’t ask them to look into it. Especially considering that the the device is a 3rd party unit from Alpine that I installed myself. And there’s nothing the unit can provide that isn’t on the OBD port and/or CANBUS anyway.
But it...
This probably isn't specifically related to Wrangler JLs but I was curious if anybody has experienced something like I just did. I replaced the UConnect on my 2018 with an Alpine Restyle quite some time ago. I recently brought it in for a minor electrical fix that took two days and after I...
I vote for the Alpine Restyle as well but note that the newest model is https://www.crutchfield.com/p_500I509WJL/Alpine-Restyle-i509-WRA-JL.html?tp=49934
There IS an interface for the camera made by Alpine and it came with the head unit. Not only was my backup camera preserved, It has inputs for two more so I can switch between views via the Alpine itself.
This looks like the Jk version: https://www.alpine-usa.com/product/sgs-ch01
I think off-road pages are a feature of the 8.4 so I’m not even really sure of what they are. It displays all the performance gauges on the screen which is new to me.
Hard to say what somebody else considers “low volume” but a great feature is that all audio sources have discretionary level...
Yeah, I figured it was something like that. It was more the shock of seeing that in print after I already bought the thing. It contradicts what the packaging says. I think Alpine and the manufacturer of the interface could coordinate better.
Well, I got the adaptor I needed to integrate with the OEM premium system and all I can say is WOW. This system was clearly made for people who really like music. The biggest frustrations I had with UConnect are a thing of the past.
- Music on USB is ready to play immediately after turning...
My JL actually came with the 5" and premium audio combo. But like most, I hated the 5" so I self-upgraded to the 7" and it's been working fine for years. (note: by "fine", I mean "UConnect fine"). I have never seen an 8.4" so I can't really help there.
See my other response for what...
It turned out that my parking brake is not signaling the dash light to come on so it seems something is broken there. I rarely use that thing so it might have been broken long before I started this install. Light works though as it runs through a test at ignition turn on.
I got around this...
I just finished the rough install of mine in my 2018 and I was curious if anybody else has and what their experience was like. Personally, I found the instructions to be quite hard to understand. I ended up doing most of the install by manually matching male sides of connectors to their...
This problem has been around as long as I have been using my iPhone via CarPlay. I have a 2018 so it's been years now.
A really strange thing is that it doesn't just cut a song off, it quickly fades the volume out and then pauses. No matter how many times I hit play, it responds in the same way...
This happens occasionally for me as well. It doesn't matter if its wired CarPlay or wireless CarPlay via the cplay2air adaptor, the behavior is always the same. The only way I get it to stop is to turn off the car and let it sit for a few minutes. Note: I also open the door to force the...
Older jeeps with hood lights or some other electrical accessory had a ground strap connecting the hood to the main body right near one of the hinges. But new ones don't, or at least I've never seen one but I also don't see hood lights anymore. I would say it's not grounded simply because it...
Just to clarify, you're not talking about an actual trickle charger, right? Do you mean that naturally one battery will charge the other other based on the difference in potential?
And I just looked over my paperwork and there is no mention of a TSB or any kind of software update. I should...
