Had some good distance 60 miles on the JLUR today with new steering box.

Good: Crisper steering, i am not wandering and working to keep it in my lane.
Bad: Wobble is still there. i feel it - it is trying to break free many times and did a few times.

Done with the trips to the dealer. I am turning it over to the professionals now. I am taking it in to the local experts on building out JL's next week. (They are at King of the Hammers this week). I will report back on what success I find.

Glad to hear! I have an appt on Monday with dealer and will share your story and push for a steering box. Please update on the status.
Jeep claims to have checked my steering box, ball joints and drove it for 15 miles and couldn't reproduce the shimmy. It only has a light shimmy at 40-50mph hitting particular bumps. I retorqued the ball joint nuts per spicer spec and put on new cotter pins....drives the same. Metalcloak mistakenly forgot to ship a bracket needed for my stabilizer, so still waiting on that to add the stabilizer.

JL has been back in for the 4th time with the wobble issue. This marks 3 tries with new dampeners that didn't address the issue. Service department has been great to work with however this is getting frustrating. It's been in now for a week with no movement - there is supposed to be an aftermarket dampener but the one sent was for a JK model. Really struggling on what next steps can be or should be at this point? Or is it just a waiting game @JeepCares

Sorry to hear this. Many, including myself have installed aftermarket stabilizers (Falcon Teraflex) and have no issues. My dealer didn't pay for the stabilizer, but installed it for free. The $350 I paid was worth it in that I no longer make numerous trips to the dealer like yourself. It sucks to spend money on a brand new vehicle, but until the FCA figures this out - this is a way to resolve the issue. Hope this helps.

I gave up on service calls and ordered the Falcon Nexus 2.2. Installed it tonight.

If this ride stays. YES!!!!!

I drove for about 25 miles on my “known problem areas” and no wobble at all. Solid steering, comfortable driving with one hand over the ruts and expansion joints.

It was a blizzard, but I have experienced the DW on the snow packed road before in these places, but not tonight!

I had it on “firm”, i will commute on “medium” tomorrow.

Cautiously optimistic!!

I would insist dealer check alignment and front wheel balance. until you eliminate those its assumed one of them is off, esp with the high speed shimmy.
Does yours have any issues Gary? I asked in the other thread about 2 door versus 4 and maybe it has somethinbg to do with the wieght/wheelbase of the 4 door unlimited with the new aluminum parts?

I had a high speed shimmy, dealer went over bolt tightness, and I replaced a defective stabilizer with falcon and no more issues.

It always drove tight, and no low speed wobble.

My problems started at 1k miles, no lift, only light trails. :/

Well, time to go in for the 4th time. Just under 7000 miles. Pure stock setup.
Steering has been a little better, but it still shakes after certain bumps, and usually on colder days. The really intense shake hasn't returned, but clearly something is still wrong with it.
Frankly, we're starting to think of pursuing a buyback. In Ohio, the lemon law kicks in for new cars that have been in 3 or more times for the same problem. We've never been in this position, and frankly, we'd still get a wrangler, but enough is enough with this one I think.

Wow! I think you are wise to look into the lemon law. I’m on my 3rd damper and so far it’s holding up. But I’m not confident about its longevity. I’ll do the same if it fails.

Jeep Cares did a nice job keeping in touch. The last time they called they offered to refund my last payment as partial compensation for my trouble.
She checked and came back with a free extended warranty (8 years 125K miles) and I agreed. Curious what others are/were compensated.
Good luck whatever you pursue.

Another death wobble case with me. Started around 6 months ago at 70+ then progressively got worse. So I brought the Jeep in. They looked, said they couldn’t find anything but would call me to switch out the stabilizer. Never got a call 2 months later, so called again and spoke to someone to get it ordered.

They did finally replace the stabilizer about a month to a month and a half ago. It was smooth sailing until around 3 days ago when going around 70 it came back just as bad.

Brought the Jeep in this morning, they said they checked all the steering components and everything looked fine, but they are ordering me a track bar.

They said that the track bar was new and wasn’t being released until March 11th. Has anyone else heard anything about this new track bar? @JeepCares any info on this?

There have been a few posts here and there on the fact a new track bar part is being released. I follow these forums closely: haven't learned what is different about the new track bar OR if anybody can get it (death wobble or no death wobble) OR if it will result in recall. Still unknowns.

Hate to pile on....

But ~4k with a mopar lift, everything else stock death wobble began and progressively got worse. Fortunately for me Shaver Jeep in thousand oaks CA has a top notch offroad experts (Ken).. Thanks to this forum and years of my own experiences on other 4x4's, I can not agree more on the idea of "there should be no death wobble even without a SS if the geometry is correct and parts are not excessively flexing - moving under dynamic loads." So I resisted the spending of my own funds on after market SS.

These guy at Shaver retorqued all joints and replaced the SS.. drives like a dream again... Time will tell...

Did they find anything that needed to be tightened, or did they verify everything was tight already? What SS did they use?
