Well I decided today I was going to take the next few days and start from scratch. I pulled everything off the front that I touched when I did the lift. The plan was to look at each part and figure out what the hell is causing this. As I started going through the pile of parts I started with the track bar brace. Never noticed it when it was on the Jeep but with it off you can clearly see the holes are wallowed out and so were the holes on the frame. First step reinforce the brace and size the hole to the 9/16 bolt that fits tight in the track bar bushings.

Also fixed the frame but didn’t grab photos. I’m fixing this thing if it’s the last thing I do!?

Do you think this is the cause or a reaction from it?

Don’t know, could be the result of it or it could be the cause of it. I replaced the bolt early in the week with the 9/16 th. I torqued it to 150 and it felt better for a day or so. It had more clamping force but I don’t know if clamping force is enough to keep the bar in place when hitting bumps. There was almost 1/4” of play in the hole on the backside. Now the way it fits the bolt and the bushing it really doesn’t even need clamping force to keep in in place. I still have a pile of parts to look over and start putting it back together tomorrow. I am literally going through it one part at a time and anything that doesn’t look 100% is getting addressed before it goes together.

The one is actually where the aluminum block attaches that has the bushings that run on the sector shaft nut.

Well after spending the last few days looking over everything on the front end I found a few things that are questionable. Let’s say that just because something is basically new it doesn’t mean it’s right and you can’t assume it’s not the problem. Hopefully by mid week I will have the replacement and by the weekend could get everything swapped around. Fingers crossed the few things I have found over the last few days will put this S#!# show behind me and I can get back to planning a few Jeep trips.

What other new parts aren't right? The crazy thing is that it seems right for some and not others.

Man I really hope you find it. I’ve been in the background following along and hoping I never have to go through what you are.

Looks like a simple case of not enough material/surface area to support the bolt and the loads associated with it. Jeep should have made those brackets a lot thicker.

What track bar are you running?

Well the parts came in that I was waiting for, swapped them out and took it for a ride. No change. Still have the same wobble from the same bump. Don’t know where to go at this point, not really anything left to do or try. This thing has become way more of a problem than it has been a fun toy to play around in. I have spent way too much money on this thing and invested way to much time. That new Bronco is looking pretty good at this point. Now to decide if I put everything back to stock and sell off the parts or leave as is.

Any chance you could post a video of the shimmy/wobble ?
