2018 2.0 with Etorque 68000 miles
I had a no crank/start condition last weekend. Tested the battery (optima yellow top) and it was all good. Proceeded to check every relevant fuse and relay. I even swapped identical relays between spots to see if any were bad. No CELs and no warnings from the dash.
At this point I had it towed to the dealer. Yes, they are more expensive but I trust this service department. I thought it was going to be a software issue honestly. Turns out I needed a new starter. That surprised me the most as I have other vehicles that are at least twice as old that have never needed a starter.
I don't do deep mud or water crossings and I keep my unit well maintained so I was very surprised with it needing a new starter.
Dealer price for the starter I think was around 350. Total bill with labor, tax, supplies, was $1209.
Yes, I could have done this repair myself but all in all it was at the dealer for only 48 hours, I didn't have to spend a whole Saturday on it, and now all is right with it.
