Just wanted to confirm the MP1622C sport Tcase is the correct Tcase needed for parts to swap the stock MP3022C into a real mechanical Tcase without the clutch packs.
There are a few offroad shops that are doing this swap (but I can't remember the names.) You end up with the input shaft and the front case half off of the 392 MP3022C swapped into the Sport tcase to have a real Tcase without the clutches.

No idea of part numbers but, What is the cost to do something like this?

Id be willing to bet that getting an Atlas or Behemoth 2 speed transfer case swap would be the same or would not be much more and you would have a far better set up.

A used MP1622C is about $300 from the salvage yard.

Are you paying an Offroad shop to do the swap and have them tear down two transfer cases and mate pieces of them together? At $100 an hour, Id bet you would quickly be into it $4000 for a complete swap.

DIY is another story.

Curious about this process. I just had to replace my 3022 so I have an extra one with burnt clutches sitting around. I'd love to combine it with a sport to make it functional with 2wd, but wondering how reliable that would be

I just installed the Atlas 2 speed Transfer case in my 2021 392. Took me about 3 days. Most of the time was spent removing all my skid plates. IT also makes it easier if you lower the fuel tank. You also have to remove the center console. Good thing is you can keep the driveshafts you are using now. I purchased the 3:8 ration which coming from the 2:72 is a big improvement. I think is cost me about $5,300. You also have to have a Tazer and swap out the DTCM. I also added the front FAD so I can stop the front driveshaft from turning all the time.

I'm new to the 4 high auto transfer case world..
What are the issues that can be expected without having the FAD and running in forced RWD with a tazer?

If you don't/can't maintain a good driveshaft angles, you can damage the transfer case.

So a lifted jeep with less than ideal driveshaft angles needs FAD or free spin hubs.

I don't know if you'd ever get to the point of damaging the tcase as the driveshaft vibrations you would feel every time you drove down the road would likely lead you to doing something about it? Of course the stock 392s don't have a fad, so the driveshaft is always spinning anyway. I don't think forcing it into 2wd via the Tazer would change anything which was the question? It's spinning if you're in 4A all the time even if you have a fad, so if you don't have vibes in 4A, you won't have them in 2wd.

You won't have any problems using the Tazer to force 2WD. However your front driveshaft will still be turning. Only if you add the front FAD and use the Tazer to force 2WD will you stop the front driveshaft from turning. I ran mine this way for about a year before moving to the Atlas transfer case. I still use the front FAD motor hooked to a toggle switch with my Atlas.

I don‘t know the part numbers, but you need a sport Tcase with the same 2.72 gears. Also need a Transfer Case Control Module (DTCM) from a regular Rubicon of the same year. It will be significantly cheaper than an Atlas. Then use AlphaOBD to tell the computer it has a different Tcase. Then the Tazer programming will give you the 2H indicator on the dash.

Dixie 4x4 and Offroad Evolution (EVO) are the 2 shops I know that have done it. Not sure what they are doing now, but 2 years ago Dixie was just turning off the DTCM with the Tazer, and EVO was zip-tying up the motor so the computer thinks everything is normal.
