Sport 4wd issue

Bought a new to me 2018 Sport a few months ago. When I shift into 4 hi, the lever moves easy but the indicator on the dash goes to "neutral" . It "feels" like it's in 4hi but I haven't confirmed that 100%. The automatic transmission doesn't seem to shift when it's like that either.

If I move the t case shifter to the right there is no resistance and when I pull it straight back from there it goes into 4lo with no issues...dash indicator works correctly.

So, what should my next move be?
Is it just a position sensor?
Easiest way to verify I'm in 4hi?

Hopefully the T-case isn't busted from the previous owner not shifting it correctly. I feel that is worst case scenario. 4Hi should just be a simple straight down motion. If it goes off to the right and down, then it will be in Neutral.

You mentioned it goes into Neutral easy. Usually for that, you would want to be crawling 1-2 mph while your transmission is in neutral as well, then shift. Otherwise it shouldn't be easy to go into.

I was worried that the t case might be the issue. The previous owner flat towed the jeep behind a motor home.

Had something similar and it was a programming error. They upgraded the software and it worked perfectly.
