After having 3 speakers replaced and my jeep into the shop 5 times with no fix. I FIXED IT! no more Charlie Brown voices!!!! Shoved a whole bunch of door weather proofing stop around the entire speaker module (drivers floor). I am so excited!!!!
Hey Buck,
What do you mean by "door weather proofing" and did you put it around the "gateway module"? I placed a business card and that seemed to do the trick as well. But always good to know another fix

I have the same issue, sounds like a reverberation from the steering column.

I guess it's officially called foam weather seal. I cut 3 inch pieces and stuck them all around the module. I just wanted it to shit up. My next step was to have the dealer unplug the speaker I was so irritated with it.

I'd love to see some pictures of the weather proofing. I stuck a business card up in mine, and while the Charlie Brown sound is gone, the left speaker down by the driverside just doesn't sound right. It's almost as though there's a muffle to the speaker now. I guess I'm going to have to take it in and have the left front speaker replaced. Jeep really needs to issue a recall and fix this, it's frustrating as hell.

Orey,
Now I put the business card in about a month or so ago and the Charlie Brown sound is gone. However, I don't seem to hear anything wrong with the speaker. Perhaps adjust the bass and treble. I lowered the bass considerably and to me it sounds great

I just used a cardboard wedge wrapped with foam sound barrier. While I had the dash off I took the speaker out and checked the wires. They are all cloth wrapped so it's not from inside. I added a bit of fiber fill for good measure.

The business card may not provide enough "padding." Try something like this instead and see if it works better for you. You can use window sealing tape and it's cheap at the local hardware store. Plus the foam tape can be used in other places to keep things from rattling.

Thanks to all in this thread. Here's a video showing exactly where the business card and/or foam are supposed to go. It was not easy jamming/contorting my body and my hands into position but I think this is fixed.

Just followed the instructions for putting foam behind the speaker. Viola! Saved me a trip to the dealer and a 3 hour wait while they tell me they don't know how to fix it. The forum comes through again!

I'm so happy for you! I solved the problem as well by taking my rather stiff business card and folding it twice and jamming it behind the speaker. When I brought it to the dealer the manager f service looked at me like I had three heads. He said he never heard of it happening sand suggested i come back when he can hear the noise. Yea Right! And Jeep; Cares as no idea either. So I guess it's us, we are crazy

Thanks so much for this thread!! I would have never found the fix to this sound on my own! I was convinced it was either the top left speaker or some sort of weird wind noise. Luckily I had read this before I took possession of my JL last Friday because I could definitely hear it during my inspection drive. Had I not been aware of the fix I probably would have rejected the purchase. ...which would have sucked given that I had been waiting oh so patiently (not) for 3 months while my baby was being built and delivered. For what it's worth I had to fold my 2 business cards twice to get the right amount of thickness.

Cheers and thanks again!!
