Same issue here. For me, just like the OP, it only happens when listening to talk radio, which is mostly Howard Stern. Some days I can go my whole commute and it doesn't do it, other times it starts right away. Switching to a music channel seems to make the sound disappear. I've had the Jeep for two weeks now and it started doing this on day three or so. I was struggling to find a way to describe it, but the Charlie Brown teacher description is spot on accurate.

I've played with the equalizer settings and nothing seems to help. If a move the balance/fade to the back speakers it stops making the noise, but when balancing out the speakers or moving them to the front the noise continues. JLU Rubi with the upgraded sound system as well.

I'd be interested to see if filling that void under the steering column helps this issue.

Same issue for me, 2 door JL with Alpine. At first I though it was a problem with the noise canceling system, but its not. I pulled the dash panel off and was able to isolate the issue to the back of the speaker pod. There is a clip on the back of the pod, with no dampening material in between the plastic. The rest of that area is really nicely padded and damped, but it looks like they missed a spot. I was able to stuff a piece of foam in there temporarily and have seen about a 90% decrease in the buzzing.

I do plan to fix this 100% over the weekend. A few more panels need to come off, the speaker pod removed, and then taped. Mastic/splicing tape or just some 40-70A rubber should work. You guys can probably do a quick fix by pulling the steering column panel off, and reaching up and to the left above the triangle shaped bracket and wedging something between the pod and the clip. Heads up too, as the vibration was originating from the pod, but showing up a few panels over.

Sorry I didn't take pictures, I thought I was the only one with this issue

If you could take some pics that would be great, it is driving me nuts. Down here in DFW I only listen to talk radio, and it is awful. Any help would be appreciated!

No issues in my Rubicon Alpine system.

It may just your listing to Howard Stern.

I listen primarily to Howard Stern and I have noticed the front left speaker vibrates to the point it almost sounds like it's blown but when I play music it's fine. I put all sound front left and was feeling around to see if I touched anything tht it would go away, but nothing. Anyone else. Put up some sport talk and see.
Felt compelled to weigh in on this one. I have the same issue with my stereo (Alpine upgrade 2018 JL Sahara)...the Charlie Brown teacher comparison is spot on. It happens randomly (but often enough to be really annoying), AM, FM, Sirius, doesn't matter....most noticeable when its just someone talking, but if i listen carefully I can hear it on certain songs, it just gets drowned out by the the rest of the music playing.

Got around to taking pics for this today. So I would have rather pulled the dash panel out to remove the speaker, but that looked a bit more complicated than anticipated. There was a screw in a very inaccessible spot, facing inwards towards the passenger seat, and pressing up against the inside of the drivers foot area. There is no way to remove that screw without pulling the entire left side of the dash out.

I ended up just re-foaming this, and doing everything from behind the panel under the steering column. There are 6 press in clips that hold that panel on. Start from the top and work your way down. When re-installing this panel, be sure to place the white clips on the panel itself. It will make life easier.

I circled in red the part behind the speaker that was causing the vibration in my truck. Second pic is a bit of white foam rolled up and stuffed in. Third pic I added an additional bit of adhesive backed foam foil (kinda like dynamat), and a second piece of white foam. The grey clip on top also wants to vibrate, so make sure that is anchored too.

To really get this to act up, you can set your radio to Howard Stern and adjust balance/fader to front left speaker.

Yes! I just finished taking pics. But, it looks like you beat me to it. :like:

I put a little pressure on the Gray electrical connector and the vibration stopped. The connector is vibrating inside the black housing you took pics of, behind the speaker box.

I was thinking about removing the connector from the housing. Applying electrical tape around the connector, to fill the small gap between the connector amd the housing it plugs into.

If that doesn't work I will try the foam route.

Good Luck everyone!

All the guys that have installed the TazerJL are familiar with those two cables and where they plug into. Those particular two cables are unplugged and plugged into the TazerJL companion, SWG bypass module.
The TazerJL plugs into the OBDll port below.

Anyway, very good pic.. 8-) Guys with the TazerJL will not have to worry about the issue you had with that rattling.

I’m driving now and I pretty sure it’s the mid range speaker under the steering wheel it sounds like Charlie Brown’s teacher talking
I’m having the same issue.

No and I can't believe with so many that they haven't found a resolve !

Or maybe they did and I haven't heard about it yet ???

I could be wrong. But I think the Charlie Brown sound I'm hearing is coming from the dash on the right side of the steering wheel. I don't know what the little speaker is that I'm pointing to in the photo. Active Noise Cancellation? I tried to check it now but my problem seems to be temperature dependent. It happens in the mornings but I don't notice it during the day when my Jeep has been sitting outside and is hot. I'll check again when possible to try to pinpoint which side of the dash it is coming from.

I just talked to the parts department at my local dealer and they said what I am pointing to in the picture is part #6822392AA with a description in his system of "speaker" for $30. If this is a speaker it is one more than the 9 speakers that are supposed to be with the Alpine system.

According to crazyone77 the thing on the right side is the temp sensor for the climate control and not a speaker.

I’m having the same issue. It wasn’t too bad at first, but has gotten worse over the last few days.
