Does the spare tire brake light cause any issues just by being there? Such as, does the plastic get crushed and cracked when you torque down the lug nuts? Does it cause it where you cannot put the camera cover on due it taking up space etc? I have thought about getting on and removing the high mount all together but I wondered about if it will just cause issues. I know some folks run them but I havent seen anyone say they did or did not have anything happen due to it. Thanks.

No.

The 3rd brake light is relocated to the spare using a metal bracket that needs to be purchased. Nothing gets torqued down to the plastic light housing.

It mounts above the camera.

Thanks for the reply. However, I am not talking about relocating the high mount. I am talking about the ring that goes behind the spare. I thought about relocating the high mount but then Id have to deal with it every time I rotate the tires and didnt want to lol.

Pretty sure those just sit in place behind the spare. From what I've seen, they're pretty much install and forget it's there.

It’s paper thin. It won’t be crushed and if you get one that’s got the plug and adapter you plug it into third brake light plug and it splits off to power both brakes lights so you never worry about it again

Thanks. I know I could move the third brake light down but don't want to deal with having to remove it when it's tire rotation time. When I was younger I would have been ok with it. But, taking that tire off and doing it all myself is killer on the shoulders, neck and back. Since its done for free at Discount Tire, Ill let them do it. They will not remove the brake light if I move it though.

I completely removed the high mount when I installed the light ring. It’s 4 screws holding it to the tire carrier if I remember correctly. Just cut and splice the wires with the light ring with weatherproof connections. The ring is only held in place by the spare on the lugs so you just have to fully seat the spare before tightening the nuts so the pressure is equal on the plastic ring. I’ve had mine for 4 years without any problems. It’s nice not having the high mount blocking what little visibility there is out of the rear view mirror.

Thanks. Ill probably just get the plug and play one so no splicing involved. Not that I cannot but its easier to put back to stock if its not spliced.

I take it the camera cover will fit back in place also?

I've had the Rugged Ridge LED ring on my wife's Jeep for almost 3 years and it's been fine, no interference with the camera cover. I removed the OEM light above the tire which adds some extra visibility out the back and really cleans up the look. I just cut off the factory connector and left several inches so I could easily splice it back on when turning the Jeep in (leased), which I'm about to do.

If you're interested I'll be putting it up for sale, whereabouts in FL are you?

Thanks. I am in the Pcola area. I was leaning toward the one below actually. Thanks for the offer though.

Yes camera cover fit until I upgraded wheels and tires. I had to do the splice because mine was an $20 Amazon find with 12”of wire coming off the ring. Plug and play would have been much easier.
