For those of you who've installed the spare tire LED ring, did you concurrently eliminate the OEM center-mounted brake light (aka CHMSL)? Or does the LED ring compel retention of the center brake light? Just curious.
On both of our Jeeps I removed the CHMSL and run just the LED ring. It adds visibility out the back window and really cleans up the appearance. I just cut the factory harness about 6-8" away from the connector and added my own Deutsch connectors. If I ever need to go back to stock I have plenty of wire to reconnect the OEM connector.

If you decide to run both, the factory 3rd brake light and the LED brake light ring, will it cause any problems, blowing fuses?
Nope. When I bought my Jeep the previous owner had already installed the ring and had left the CHMSL in place as well, there was no problem with it. He had installed a set of Black Rhino wheels that left the ring completely obscured from direct view and you only got a bit of glow from the slots around the edge of the rim though so that was understandable as it probably could have been a potential ticket or liability concern if you got rear ended. My new wheels (Rocktrix RT105) are very open and the ring is far more visible and attention grabbing than the CHMSL is/was.

Most manufacturers don't market them as a replacement, but rather an add-on (due to DOT requirements), and being LED the current draw is very low anyway, so the amperage concern is not an issue.

How do you like the cavfab? Is that the LOD camera relocate? I am thinking about getting the cavfab myself as I just put 37s on.
Not @CarbonSteel but I also have the cavfab tire carrier and I feel it works quite well lots of adjustments with it to get the tire set where I want.
I’m also running the lod camera and 37” tires.

Nice why did you decide on the LOD and still keeping the third tail light in the way of the spare? I was looking at the LOD with the ring tail light so I can rotate my spare from time to time.

i have the ring taillight also. The reason i added the third brake light like that i originally had made a bracket that i attached to the tire carrier to have the third brake in a position similar to factory so i had a place to hold the rear camera for my wolfbox dash cam. I didn't like how it turned out and how wobble the mount was so i got the new one and moved the third brake light into that position with the camara mounted on top of the third brake light. I do 5 tire rotations so yes it does add a little extra work overall but not to bad.

It wasn't that difficult overall. I think the hardest part was just making sure the tailgate doesn't drop down or move while installing the cavfab that way you don't have to mess with a bunch of adjustments trying to get it all lined up.

The CavFab is 1000% rock solid with zero rattles even on washboard roads. The LOD relocation was a snap. I only had to add a longer bolt and a thick fender washer. Never had an issue with it either.

How did you run your LOD wires? The instructions assume you have a carrier arm did you put it through the factory spot? I was also thinking that I could run it inside where the hinges are and come through the tire carrier.

Oh ok, thank you.

I wonder if Jscan offers a light show like that. I'll have to break that rascal out and give it a looksee. I could really see myself getting down with that out infront of the garage late at night. I don't get out much, but when I do, I want to disco.

I ran the wires out the back of the lod extension and down into the factory spot into the tailgate connecting to the factory plug in the tailgate.
