Spare Tire Ring Light Wiring

I bought a spare tire RGB light for my 2021 JL Sport S. My problem is the instructions are very vague and not helpful. Positive and negative I get, but they also say to connect a 3rd wire, the power wire, to the running light wire in the tail light to be able to power the light even when the brake pedal isn’t pushed. Can someone tell me which colored wire in the tail light I need to connect that wire too? Thank you.

For a CMHSL (third brake light) you shouldn't connect the running light wire.
One wire will be ground, one will be the running light (dim) and one will be the brake light. Connect the ground and the brake light wires, and leave the third wire disconnected. I was told that in some states it not legal to have the CMHSL used as a running light.

Make sure you connect the positive to the wire that goes hot only when the brakes are applied.

Quadratec’s is plug and play, even comes with a Y wire so you can use both. Can you return yours? That said, I ordered 6-30 , still on back order ( was on sale then)

Yeah old thread but FYI… the Quadratec Y connector is no longer available. Bummer as that is what I was looking for.

Interesting, it works without issues, just QT cheaping out ? Many probably just run the ring and don’t use it, but how do you get the word out to them you will buy it ?
