Actually I’m think a come-along or a hand-crank winch will do the same job for me, for about $30, hanging from an oak branch. Stand up in my Jeep with the two front panels removed, after placing the strap by hand, them hand-crank it from inside my Jeep.

It seems pretty simple and cheap. Am I missing something?

IMHO Jeff, going with the Top Lift Pro or Lange Hoist a Cart, while both great products, might be ill advised given your off road terrain.

Here's my play.

1) An engine crane at Harbor Freight. Use a coupon or wait for a sale.

https://www.harborfreight.com/1-ton-capacity-foldable-shop-crane-61858.html

2) Swap out the wheels it comes with with ones better suitable for non paved surfaces, for example...

https://www.harborfreight.com/10-inch-pneumatic-tire-30900.html

A tad bit of ingenuity should find you a way to get those wheels on that crane.

Finally, IMHO the best top lift out there; the Freedom Jack 3: no headliner contact.

Not a single bit of damage from Hurricane Irma, Charlie, etc.. Keeping the land natural provides a great wind break. We lost the tops of some trees, which a neighbor cleared for us with his tractor.

Well, Jeff. I have to say you differently live kind of off the Grid. My son lives in Jacksonville right off the Beach. He drives his Big Lift and 37's on the Beach and the Young ladies come a running. The Hottest place I ever went to was Orlando Flordia. The high was 85 and the humidity was like 100 % and I about died. lol Being from Dallas area that's 100 and heat index 110 has nothing on that place. The cover you have must help keep the sun off. Do you have a problem with Tree Sap on autos? I don't dare park under trees around here. The sap dries on auto and hard to get off.

I wouldn’t say sap is a problem. When you live under a thick tree and vine canopy you have to relax your standards a bit or it will make you go mad. The most inconvenient thing is having Bahama anoles and Cuban tree frogs that show themselves on the hood of your vehicle AFTER you’re on the road, hanging on for dear life. Then there’s the story my wife had of a Huntsman spider that was in her vehicle. She didn’t notice it until she looked in her review mirror - and saw eight legs wrapped around the mirror, it’s huge hairy body on the back.

I have removed a few rat snakes and black racers from neighbors vehicles - unharmed, I might add.

Yes sir I have. They only last a year or two down here at most. We haven’t had good luck with such things.

The Franklin Scaffold for $189 from Harbor Freight works very well. Granted, the scaffold won’t wheel around your property well but it would be at your Jeeps level making easy install and removal. Plus, its off the ground from the elements and vermin. On a side note, I knew BIGFOOT was real! Love to see that trail cam footage for sure.

Nick, I’m used to people calling me a crackpot over the Bigfoot thing. I TOTALLY get it. I expect NOBODY to believe unless they have seen for themselves. I have been eyeball-to-eyeball with it.

I will check out the scaffold; thanks! I may also start a new thread if I can link an Animal Planet vídeo with the aforementioned interview, re-enactment, argument.
