Generally people way over blow the lack of reliability of vehicles in general. Statistically speaking almost all new vehicles are within margin of error of each other reliability wise.
+ 1 to that and if you compare modern vehicles the old vehicles many seem to think were more reliable because they were "less complex" there is no comparison.

Yeah there's no question that increased complexity has made modern vehicles less reliable. It's a shame because when you consider how good we've gotten at producing reliable powertrains, we could have modern vehicles going 500k without issue...instead we've got "pull over vehicle will shut off soon" followed by months of downtime and $10k in repair bills all because of a connector issue with a connector that doesn't even have to exist.

Would love to see some of those folks do a cross country road trip in a carbureted V8. Crossing the Rockies would be... uhh... rocky for them.

Valve adjustments, points replacement, and Carb tuning are a thing of the past and we are all better off for it.

You have a 21 year old vehicle with 106k miles on it. No wonder you don't have a lot of issues. You don't drive your vehicles!
 I know! My wife and I each average about 8K a year now, but when she had the Liberty she worked much closer to home and was pregnant twice so it sat for a while. When we took it off the road in 2018 it only had 80K and it was 15 years old. Once my son started driving it in 2020 he put 24K on it in 3 years.

His commute with the JLUR is farther now though, probably about 300 miles/week so we'll see the miles climb on it...

Lordy lordy, could you imagine the complaining that would be done if half these folks were forced to drive a TJ with a CJ powertrain? Roll up windows are way more reliable than electric windows, right? AC compressor is just another thing to fail, better get the base model where your AC is your window roller and soft top. Can't have any infotainment, paper maps are superior in terms of reliability. ABS is just a complicated nanny, better go for 4 wheel drums, unboosted to save complexity. Incandescent headlights are far simpler than all the controllers necessary to run LEDs.

Airbags, occupant detection systems, AutoPark, manual modes in automatics, automatic headlights, user profiles, configurable digital gauges that allow you to see more vehicle information than you could possibly see even with an entire dashboard of physical gauges, e-lockers, e-swaybars - clearly none of these things are actually useful and couldn't possibly operate properly for the vast majority of users. That carbureted V8 won't ever take a shit because it's too hot, too cold, or you're at a different altitude. That roll up window will clearly never fall out of its track. Who needs more than AM radio for entertainment? Real men lock in their hubs and then take a minute to battery weld up their spider gears for tough obstacles. Spools are issued with testicles.

I agree... I guess that is why I own two Jeeps and two Camaros.
When I was 12 or 13 I thought the perfect garage was a CJ5 and a 3rd gen Camaro. I got a JL and a Vette instead. I think it's an all right combo.

Was that garage on wheels to tow behind the trailer out of the park? ;)
