A full week of Snow here in the PNW, temps below freezing nearly 7 days. Jeep on KO2s did great getting out of the city and out to the barn to complete horse chores. Had about 6 inches fall on day 1 and another 3 fall Thursday.
We have just warmed above freezing so lots of ice now, but should be clear in a day or so.
Jeep is desperately in need of a bath now

Was in DC early, thinking I'd get home before the mess hit...nope. A 25 mile commute took 6 hours. Finally had a chance to use that 4 Low. After driving up the hills on 210, patiently, and impatiently driving around cars and trucks that weren't meant to be out, or the owner had passed on getting new tires a few months back...I got to 228, my final leg, which is normally better than the previous county roads, as far as maintenance. The county finest had decided to block the hill...the snow plows (two) had gotten themselves stuck...so after making it up all the hills on Hwy 210, to get this point, which in my opinion had weeded out the unsnowworthy...these guys blocked the road and wouldn't let anyone pass....after we watched a few select 4wd go...a few of us drove up, via the opposite side of the HWY, and they said they could not just selectively let some people go....umm, sure you can, we are equipped. After another 2.5 hours, a plow showed up, and were graciously allowed to pass...cars still getting hung up in the intersections. I had made a uturn and tried another backroad, only to find it gridlocked a few miles further in....The jeep didn't let me down. Stock tires, no lift...(sport S)...it just purred and slogged through...as long as I did my part and didn't overdrive it. Only uncomfortable part was eyeballing my coffee mug....my bladder was screaming. I didn't have to resort to that though. Last bit of fun was the last large intersection...making a left from the 6 lane HWY to a 2 lane...The plow had packed up the inside lane (my lane)...So I'm making the turn, the snow bank is blocking my lane...there is a car to the outside right...I know I'm good, just ease up and push through...apologies to the honda behind me....he couldn't clear that same mound...but, maybe if he had a little more room between us...he could have avoided it....

Nothing underscores the lowest common denominator in human IQ and preparedness like driving behavior. I have a professional lifetime of experience documenting unfathomable stupidity. That’s what causes gridlock on our roads 99% of the time (with the other 1% being downed trees, flooding, avalanche, road failure and such).

This is a handy piece of equipment you guys might consider adding to your rig. This, a gallon of water, and warm clothing will get you through most driver stupidity, as long as you’re not the one they crash into.

Snow is one thing … you may want to be a little more cautious on ice. In 2WD, even with snow tires, she can get a little ”tail-happy” if you hit the gas too hard.
Yes, I've been stressing I'm worried about ice the most... 100% agreed. Luckily, most of my driving is either on the Interstate or urban roads where the speed limit is 30... I'm mostly worried about driving down and icy hill... I've driven through an ice storm in the Rocky Mountains in a FWD Accord.

We just took a vacation to south Lake Tahoe. Got about 5’ of snow in a few days. Unfortunately, couldn’t take the Jeep because we had too much crap with us including a cargo trailer.

I was seriously impressed by the 2WD 4Runner though. With just chains on the back and a limited slip differential, it didn’t get stuck and was able to safely pull that trailer through it all.

This pic is after shoveling everything out from under 3’ of snow-

I would just be grateful seeing my off-road lights were still there after parking in a long-term airport lot!

I didn't add the "urinator"....but I did order a tow strap to keep in the back. I could have offered a little help while I was out (which is risky I know, but some people were like me...had to be out in the mess because of work...) I will help where I can.

Put on some security bolts. Will slow them down a little or deter the kids. BD security bolts are a fortune. Can be found cheap at https://www.fmwfasteners.com/ and they are stainless too.

You can get even more esoteric security fasteners on Amazon. Torx security is no deterrent - I carry a set in my tools as do most others as a multi-tool set.

What I do is try to get them off after I put security fasteners on using basic tools. The esoteric ones are used by rigid and i have a set. Vise grips can defeat them easily. The security torx have the post in the middle. Noted you can get any bits off Amazon to take just about anything off but my meter is can they be taken off using basic tools. Where there's a will there's a way however.

Most thieves carry a multi-bit set. So do most enthusiasts. So that rules out all the common ones.

The ones I linked are too rounded to get a grip on with channel locks or knipex cobra pliers. I tried and trashed one in the process to where it needed to be cut with a Dremel as no more grip at all. You could probably use a punch and hammer to spin one off but that would make noise and take time.

I have left my Jeep in the airport parking lot for weeks with nice BD lights and never an issue with this setup. I had Rigid lights in my LOD rear bumper using tamper proof Torx and they quickly were stolen inside 5 days.

When I turn off the traction control and try to 'drift' in snow, my JLR makes a weird 'grinding' noise, but does not seem to harm anything. The short wheelbase does make sideways driving interesting, though.

That’s because just turning off the traction control doesn’t completely turn it off. Unless you have a Tazer to completely disable it. It’s still working the brake lock differential in the rear and applying individual rear brakes as it sees fit to keep you in line ?
