My old school Warn one is still going strong after 20+ years.

I just had occasion to finally use my snatch blocks recently. I have some TRE's and a couple from Safe-Xtract. I use good quality shackles and I do trust them, Skookum, CM, Green Pin. But there is no doubt that using soft shackles gives me the warm fuzzies over metal. The reason why I mention it is the soft shackles I have while oversized they did fit in the TRE snatch blocks, but not the Safe-Xtract. Just kind of an of note deal.

I see no issue with bringing back an old thread when it is loaded with pertinent information already...

After reading this thread, I went back to Gear America site since I do have a bunch of items from them that I have bought over the years, some of them are now marked as Made is USA, not all, but some, which tells me they have moved some manufacturing back here.

I haven't used any of their gear in real world, so don't know how good or bad they are.

I just bought their 9T block and it seems decent for infrequent use. You would want some chafing gear if you use a soft shackle.

I use spools and soft shackles. Never a fail so far. But even if there was I can whip a fix together in a minute. I love modern ropes and don't miss the wire rope days at all!

It’s solid, affordable, and a lot of folks seem to trust it. Warn is great too, just a bit more pricey. Honestly, unless you’re doing super heavy recoveries all the time, the GearAmerica should hold up just fine.

I went with a heavy duty Rino USA snatch block. Probably a bit overkill, but I did recover a dump truck from my flooded pasture, once.
