I can find snatch blocks for recovery for $30-40 and ones rated for the same load for $150. Other than the expensive ones being made from lightweight materials, is there a significant functional difference between cheaper one and the expeyones? Does name brand matter as far as quality?

Yes as you stated, they are rated, get one rated for your winch .. don't go less ..They make ones specific for cable or synth rope as well .. Never use or borrow one that has been used on cable if you have synthetic line

I suppose it comes down to trust. Without knowing the brands under discussion, do you trust that all of them (even the expensive ones) can handle the advertised load? If so, then it’s weight, wheel (pulley) size, and features (some require you to feed line through, some split open).
