Smells like Antifreeze?

Just got a quote for $2000.00 to replace the heater core on my 2012 KK. Should have let the dealer have it when I bought my JL a few months back. Oh well!!

It's a big job to replace a heater core, unless you literally hack the HVAC unit apart in place like some do in the videos.

If you're in the least bit concerned about a head gasket, do a chemical test of the antifreeze.​

Light smell of antifreeze in the exhaust, maybe a little rough idle, one or two spark plugs unusually cleaner than the rest.

There is a recall on certain 2.0T equipped Wranglers due to the water pump bolts not being properly torqued. I had a coolant odor and this was the cause. Recently my coolant overflow tank also developed a slow leak. The coolant dripped down and saturated the foil covered cloth insulation on the coolant lines just below the tank. Dealer replaced my tank and did a pressure test under warranty, but I still get an occasional whiff of coolant which I'm pretty sure is from the insulation that got saturated.

I realize that but the coolant overflow bottles on the 3.6 have been reported to leak as well. Coolant leaks could be anywhere in the system independent of which engine it is. Just wanted to give feedback on here to look,
