Slept in my JLU one night during my brothers bachelor party.
I was pretty smashed, but I would do it again with an air mattress.

Can't sleep straight legged if over 6', but im a side fetal sleeper, so it was ok for me

And the gap between the front and rear seats is not a problem, the mattress is thick enough to compensate for the space.. so it doesn’t sag.. the original mattress they made was much thinner so there was some play, but the one they have now is thicker and fits perfectly..
Thanks for the additional info!

I think I might prefer a tent for longer stays, but for an overnight stay while on the road this might be perfect for me. Or in case of rain as you mentioned.

I couldn't even imagine laying in that for more than 5 minutes. Just the picture makes my back hurt!
That looks like it’s designed for short people

I'm considering the deepsleep but my problem is that I have a large black lab who will definitely puncture it with his nails. I'm guessing if I layer it with a couple of comforters it should hold up. Anyone have any clever ideas of how to protect this or another air mattress?

Lay a comforter then a full size/queen fitted sheet over it...and good night...

In 40 years of trucks, Jeeps a Pathfinder and a rock crawler Toyota I have always slept outside under the stars. Lots of talk of sleeping in Jeep's.
What view seems better?
I would just get the same view inside my Jeep...

Someone fabricate this then let me know how it goes... The lock/latch can be like one of those Mason jars wire locks on the inside of the window...

I'm old. Bad back. Aches and pain. Spent more time on the ground and in the back of pickups after 20-30 miles a day on a horse than I can recall.

My idea of a camp bed and toiti these days. If god had meant for us to sleep in a Jeep, he'd have made them look like this inside.

I used this with a DeepSleep and it was pretty good:

ROADIE The OVERNIGHTER SUV Window... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B06XX3H5XL?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share

I would get a second one for better cross airflow. But it’s easier and cheaper than cutting up your Jeep.

Only downside to DeepSleep is that it loses you a lot of vertical room vs the foam pads.
