Hello, So because someone could not tell the difference between green and red my precious 2018 JLUR with 28K miles and only 5 payments to go is now a total loss. I am looking to buy a new-to-me Rubicon with similar miles and really want one that is not grey, black or white. Have you noticed 95% of cars/ trucks are grey, black or white? There are 2 nice looking Sarge green jeeps for sale near me but both have the Sky One Touch top. I am hesitant to buy a used cloth-top vehicle to be my daily driver. Does anyone know what it would cost to replace the cloth part of the Sky One Touch if/ when it needs it? Are the parts available for me to do it or is it something that an upholstery person would have to do? I tried several google searches and could not find anything. Thanks

You can remove the SOT and replace it with a standard 3 piece hardtop. There are a couple threads on here about it.

I have the SOT on my '22 JLUR and use it all the time- I love it! I don't have any concerns about it- it's made of the same premium twill that the factory soft top is made of. I think the biggest factor regarding it's longevity, as is the case with any convertible top, is if it's garaged when not in use.

+1.

@Dadgummit
If you're able to confirm that the Sarge Green JLUs were garage-kept from new, that part of the decision process (i.e., SOT or no SOT) is settled.

Hi Thank you for the replies, it is at a dealership as a trade-in so I am not sure if they would know, though I can ask, however it would be living in my driveway as my old GTO owns the garage.

I have it on my '19, looks and works flawlessly. My cars are not garage kept.

My 22 JLU with SOT lives in the driveway as well. I've had no issues. I've also had branches drag along it while wheeling. Something I try to avoid but have yet to damage it. I think the fabric is stronger then most people give it credit.

I do treat it with 303 fabric cleaning and treatment twice a year, just to try to keep it looking new for as long as possible

Don’t be afraid of the SOT, when they first came out a lot of folks went all chicken little on them but six years later there just aren’t that many with reported problems. I have two of them here in the southwest where the sun destroys softtops and they have both been great. They get run through an automatic car wash, with brushes, nearly weekly and have lived outside so they are very durable.

My 2018 was also totaled (driver fell asleep on PCH and hit my parked Jeep estimated at 60mph). Get a 2021 or newer. The insurance part sucked but in other ways I was glad to get rid of my 2018 gremlins.

Besttop also makes a premium twill protectant that about every 3 to 6 months you’ll want to put a coat of it onto the SOT. It’s a type of fabric protectant that really works.

I love convertibles, but driving on I-4 daily, I don't like the whole roof open ..The SOT was the perfect solution for me..Gives me the ability to open it as little or as much as I want. My neighbor has a 12 year old Fiat with manual canvas roof..still holding up fine. As for colors... The whole world is stuck on Euro everything.. Car colors..Black, White and blend 'em you get grey, add metallic you get silver. Jeep was always known for its special yearly colors, now try to find Punpkin, Bikini Pearl, Tuscadero, Snazzberry, etc..its cheaper to paint as many as possible in 1 color.. Dealers are scared to order colors because they don't want them sitting on lot for long. My neighborhood BMW dealer said they can always sell black, white or grey, but colors take awhile. Manufacturers should require dealers to order colors. But thats not gonna happen while Jeep is a Euro company,

Do you drive with it partially opened?
