curious about people's experiences with the Sky One-Touch tops on jeep wrangler unlimited. Do you find them to be noisier compared to the 3-piece freedom hard tops. Do they fade much over time? Lastly, do they present any difficulty in keeping clean? asking for a friend, you know the deal.

As for noise, I don't think so, there are a few YouTube videos of people doing tests, haven't seen one that show it's noisier.

As for keeping clean, if you drive to get it dirty that might be an issue, I drive mostly city and don't have an issue, 2-3 times a year I spray 303 fabric guard, and that beads the water, keep it duck like.

The most I do is over spray the house to get it a bit wet when washing, then just wipe it with a microfiber cloth.

I will never be able to go back to the hard top/soft top, the SOT is just too easy, I pretty much always have it open Spring, Summer, Fall, Winter.

If you live where it can get cold requiring the heater, I would suggest also getting the heated steering and seats.

My wife has SOT and I have standard hard top. Yes, the SOT is noisier. And the temperature difference is more pronounced. the taller you are, the more you notice both.

Boss Lady Loves hers, the top is the same twill fabric as the premium softtop and it doesn’t fade. My premium softtop and her SOT have been in the southwest sun for three years without issues. Yes it is a little noisier but just add a @Hothead Headliners and the difference is nearly nothing from a hardtop.

And yes, both tops go through the car wash with brushes nearly weekly with zero issues. Just get it and drive it. If down the line you don’t like it you can trade someone for a hardtop really easy.

I installed a Hothead Liner in my JLU and it seems to have helped with both roadnoise and heat (I live in Phoenix). Can't compare to hardtop, but the convenience of pushing a button and having the top open is awesome! I use it year round, albeit less when the temp starts pushing 100.

I have a 2018 with SOT. It’s super easy to keep clean, I just hose it down with water and a mild soap. Still looks new, no signs of fading.

I do enjoy the convenience but it is very loud on the highway. I installed a hothead headliner, it helps with heat when the tops back but it does not improve the noise. If your daily commute includes a lot of highway time, I would probably go with a hard top. I ordered a 2024 recently and went with the hard top.

In your avitar pic you have a hood deflector, if that is still on the Jeep that is the source of all the noise. Before the SOT Boss Lady had a hardtop with Sunrider and a hood deflector turned that thing into a flapping mess! I convinced her to take it off and it has been great since then.

We sold our ‘21 JLU Rubicon hardtop and had the Tan Soft top for it.. We now have a ‘24 Rubicon X 4Xe with the SOT. THE ‘24 sound deadening is real

The ‘24 SOT is quieter than the ‘21. I’d rank the ‘24 quietist, ‘21 hardtop 2nd and soft top last.

Much of the wind noise comes from the windshield frame. Jeep filled in a channel in the pillar to eliminate a good amount. With the floor insulation, acoustic glass and channel filling the ‘24 has the least amount of road/wind noise.

Having the extra ’24 cabin BT microphones , I can make calls at 50-55 mph, open SOT with no issues.

I haven’t had the deflector on the jeep the entire time I’ve owned it, it may have added a little more noise. Don’t get me wrong, I love my SOT and don’t regret getting it. I just wanted to be honest about the noise that comes with a SOT. I do have a 2018, so newer years may be a bit quieter.

Mine has the SOT and it's noisier than the hardtop but that's not saying it's annoyingly loud or distracting at all. Sometimes I might get a flapping sound once in a while if the wind condition is just right, but I barely notice anything. The SOT, as others have mentioned, is just way too convenient for me to consider anything else. As far as heat, I'm in central Texas and my Jeep is black so it does get a little hot but the AC is more than enough to counter that, and we do get above 100 for just about a month at a time. In the winter, the Jeep takes care of me by automatically activating the seat and steering wheel warmers once the temps drop to a certain temperature so, again, the lack of insulation up top does not factor in.

As far as fading, I can't help much here as mine's garaged and the top, now at about 3 years old, still looks brand new.

I have a 2021 JLUR with the SOT and love it. I did install the hothead liner and that works great as well. Ease of operation and convenience is awesome. Goes through power wash without a problem and looks great still. I did apply chemical guys fabric top conditioner in spring of this year to help keep it fresh.

Great picture. Most SOTs look funny to me when naked. I like the looks of a naked hardtop but I know we would likely never remove it since we don't have any place to store it. I love just hitting the button on my 392 and I doubt that my wife ever removed the top on her X.
