Hey guys and girls I am new to the forum. So if this topic has been gone over 1 million times I apologize. I have on order a 2023 gladiator Rubicon. I am installing a 3 1/2 inch TeraFlex lift and 37 inch tires. I do a fair amount of rock crawling, as well as over landing. What are your thoughts on the skids? Do I need more or are the factory ones adequate?

off-roaders who are way more serious and talented than I swear by the factory skids.

my jeep is also my daily, and while I don’t care too much about scratches and dings, I care lots about protecting critical parts. I also want to try progressively harder obstacles and push my limits. I’m also not well prepared for trail repair if I’m honest.

so, I think of these for protection:

-heavy duty diff covers or diff skids. Some do both.

-lower control arm skids(front and rear) skids

- FAD skid

- bellypan coverage for oil pan, trans and transfer. im a fan of aluminum here for weight savings. Artec is my option.

-rock rails / sliders

One more thing, a hitch mount skid for departure is a good idea for gladiators.

Thank you. A hitch mounted skid is a great idea. And I guess a good question would be what don’t the stock skid plate cover

The FAD is pretty vulnerable, not well protected stock. Same for lower control arms. What engine do you have? The 392 needs an oil pan skid. Lots of folks running the 3.6 e torque put a skid on the e torque battery too.
