I just added the Artec C gusset to the rear axle. I was running the Metal Cloak rear differential skid, but it will not fit w the C gusset. With the Metal Cloak diff cover, the bolts are recessed. Question...should I run without a rear diff skid or should I replace the diff cover and get another skid that will work with the gusset in place?

??? You mean the front axle? The rear does not have "C's".

Both my front and rear were fully trussed, with gussets on the front, and control arm skids on both and none of that would interfere with a differential skid plate.

Photos?

I think you mean a rear truss.
This:

mixed with this?

I can see where the brackets would be an issue.
If you want a rear diff skid the one by Rancho should work with the truss:

Yes..my apologies. The rear axle truss.

And yes..with the current skid plate system I have, it doesn't work.
I see some people NOT running rear diff skids. I'm just wondering if the axle housing is strong enough to take a beating or if I should get a different diff cover and get another skid plate.

Next Venture skids are the strongest out there and protect the pinion area as well.

I have a full set with covers for sale in the marketplace. They work perfectly with trusses.

IMO a diff skid is more of glide plate than in impact plate, helping the diff to slide over obstacles rather than catching a lip or edge of the diff or diff cover when slow rock crawling. If you are planning on high impact to your diff, you might need to protect more than just the pumpkin.

I just did the Badge of Honor trails in Hot Springs with the DV8 rear diff skid plate. Seemed to work really well (although we didn’t hit it hard) plus it protects the axle some. Take a look at that one based on your comments.

Unfortunately it won't work with an axle truss. Think I'll be fabricating something.

Rough country is another option to consider.

In my personal experience, it is cheap, strong, no interference issue, and it protects the rear pinion.

Cons: may not work with other diff covers.
