Not a Wrangler driver - 2020 Grand Cherokee Summit - with a Sirius Radio problem.
  • UConnect radio replaced in 2020 Jeep Grand Cherokee Summit after the original was fried during a dealer software update.
  • Everything works except Sirius.
  • Can only access Sirius XM Channels 0 & 1
  • Unable to receive other Sirius channels despite multi resends of the signal, hours of telephone advice from Sirius and tech work by the dealer.
  • Is there a separate antenna connection for Sirius?
  • Is there a fuse (central or in-line) for the satellite radio?
Any & all advice suggestions really welcomed!

Thx!

I don't know but I'll make a guess. Before that, if the dealer replaced it because they fried the old one, have them fix it.

On our Wranglers, there is some antenna accessible on top of the sport bars I believe. Then that wire certainly runs back to the dash.

Good luck!!

Yes..Radio ID updated...spent many hours on the phone with various Sirius Advisers & Supervisors but no one has been able to connect the Sirius Radio to the Sirius satellite network.

I think
Did the Radio ID number get updated with Sirius?
And do NOT let them charge you to move the subscription. The radio was switched due to the dealer's mistake + Sirius can & will waive the fee even if the rep initially says it needs to be charged

Does the preview channel work? That should prove out the antenna.

At least in the wrangler. No seperate fuse, looks like the Sirius antenna is one of six!

When you log into your account online, does it show the current subscription term and radio id number accurately?

Yes...do connect to Channels 0 (Radio ID displayed) & 1 (Ad with audio). But turning the tuning dial results in a display of only 0 & 1. Hitting the preselect buttons across the top results in a "Unable to connect to channel" message.

Considering channel 0 and 1 use the same antenna path I’d have to think that’s all correct, and the problem is a Sirius configuration problem somewhere in their system.

This is a tough one.

I'm assuming that the sales code is turned on because Sirius is showing up.

As more and more of our vehicles gets computerized, The funniest things end up being cached in volatile RAM.

My suggestion, knowing nothing about your problem, would be to
1: Fully disconnect of the negative terminal of the battery (including start/stop battery, if your jeep has one)
2: wait 30 to 60 minutes
3: reconnect it
4: start the Jeep,
5: then stop it, park it, wait overnight
6: start it again the following morning,
7: and then try again.

Why this arcane series of steps? Fully disconnecting the and leaving it off long enough for all power supply capacitors to fully discharge forces all volatile RAM back to it's default state.

Reconnecting and starting the Jeep forces it to begin its initialization sequence and pull some values through RAM.

Waiting until the following day forces all cached values that have an expiration timestamp to be re-initialized. After step 4, my Rubicon thinks it's a Sport. It takes up to a day before the UConnect will pull the configuration values out of the EEPROM or NVRAM that permanently stores the Jeep's VIN and "as built" configuration.

Somewhere in some memory location your radio's OLD sirius ID number may still be hanging around.

I have had satellite radio for over 20 years.... Call Sirius XM to have them confirm your subscription. May sure you have your XM Radio number with you. Then tell then to refresh your signal while you are in the open air (out of the garage) so the satellite can find your radio again.
