One of these days I'm gonna get a bumper dumper.

What will they think of next?

Just have to remember to drive forward only when you’re done. Reverse will scar the kids for life.

I've kept a folding shovel in all my vehicles over the past 30+ years. A small folder that fits under the seats. Haven't needed to use one but a few times, but those times it was crucial. Used to be a Boy Scout; "Be prepared"

Another one of those things where it's "better to have it and not need it than to need it and not have it."

I’ve been carrying this old Ames 82 around with me for many years….. came in handy a few times until I got to FL. It’s a little less than useless in the sugar sand….you take one scoop out, and two fall in…. …. Just carry it now because social convention dictates that I should…..🥴

I carry the military version of that trenching shovel in my beach kit.
Fortunately, I've never had to use it but it's required kit here along with a jack, jack board, and recovery straps..

You know folks there are many post about accessories. Yet I seldom see post about shovels or holders. Fact is for off roading I would not go without one.

Get yourself a shovel holder folks.

What say you??

AD handled shovel fits perfectly between the backseat and my Tuffy security box.

Ahh the MOPP 4 memories. How many times have you walked through a parking lot and seen a black spray paint outline of an E-Tool. Some poor Soldier is heading to CIF.

I carry a E-Tool under my seat in the JLU

@autotragic just because you don’t have a $300 shovel with a $300 holder doesn’t let you off the hook. Let’s see what you “carry” and where you store it.

I don't have a photo. But what I used to carry was a regular long handle shovel with a straight grained hickory handle. I simply wired mine to the rear of front bumper. Nothing fancy. BTW I would clean the blade with a wire brush on my angle grinder and paint it. Rust shovel blades make the work harder IMHO.

The reason for the long handle is I know when I get stuck I am stuck its usually to the frame. Short handle shovels work but its hard on a guy to use them to dig out especially if the rear end needs dug out. Long handle shovels make life allot easier and you get more leverage to move debris from the frame or pumpkin.

Yep its ugly but long handle shovels work in snow, sand and dirt. Just be careful if you head this advise. Pay attention to the handle wood, a broken handle shovel does no one any good.

I've used a very similar folding shovel, standard on my Gear Up, to help extract a new owner who put too much faith in the brand's marketing photos. Dude had 2WD but didn't know how to use it. The rest of the story is exactly as you're thinking right now.

This is yours truly, with a monkey (shorthand for a sidecar passenger), avoiding a known deep water crossing in Michaux State Forest. I hadn't yet installed the snorkels on the Electrojets, and decided to err on the side of caution.

I've watched enough Forensic files to know that no matter where you bury it, most likely they will still find it.

I had one of those folding one but never needed it, so I gave it away. I guess it does not hurt to bring one if you see the need. Personally, I have had more than 1 occasion where I wish I had a battery powered chainsaw, but never a shovel.
this, i never end up needing the shovel, but multiple times wish i had the power saw. wonder what is a good one to grab, compact enough for a 2 door's storage 🤔

since shovel never ends up being used i got a gimmicky multi use thing, with firestarter & knife etc
