The only shovel you need. Cold Steel Special Forces shovel. It has a nice ring to it too.

Cold Steel has some great stuff. I have used this shovel many many times over the years. I have abused the shit out of it and it just works great. Plus, I like sharping it around the camp fire when it is needed. It fits in my Cargo Dog storage box as I would not want it coming loose in an accident or a roll over flying around inside of the Jeep. Well I am not a big fan of how many store stuff in the Jeep in general. Most holders will not fair well in an accident. Like who wants to get hit in the head by a big ass Mag light held in place by some crap flashlight holder a get smacked by a fire extinguisher that came loose from a velcro holder. Not this guy.

Anyways this shovel kicks ass.

it is a great shovel. I have cut firewood with it, dug holes, sacked stuff with it. Even split wood with it. I think I paid about $25 for it.
Cold steel has some cool products.
My son bought me the two handed machete, the other son has their great sword and I have had a couple of their folding knives. They are nice and they stay sharp.

As for mounts. I am looking for input of my idea past some of you experienced Jeep folks.

I am thinking of mounting a pair of these to the vanes in the stock grill for holding a shovel. The color is red and it would match the red hooks on the stock bumper.

Reminder I have a 2021 Rubicon stock except tires, air bags in the rear coils and RS9000 shocks.

I really like cold steel tools. I also have a racial shovel from condor it nice but for me nothing beats cold steel shovel. It’s a shovel and ax in one

Folded up e-tool under the floor of the Jeep.

And plus whatever on the electric chainsaw. Dudes make fun of this but for small limbs and downed trees I can have it out and the trees cleared before they have their gas saw even started. And I don’t have to worry about gas spilling in my trunk and stinking.

I’ve been carrying this old Ames 82 around with me for many years….. came in handy a few times until I got to FL. It’s a little less than useless in the sugar sand….you take one scoop out, and two fall in…. …. Just carry it now because social convention dictates that I should…..🄓

This is exactly what I carry for dirt digging. And for snow digging I carry an old metal avalanche shovel that breaks down into a small unit. Both fit into my storage drawer.

Just seeing all these short shovels makes my back hurt. Either that or thereā€˜s a lot of Hobbits around here. šŸ¤“

My thoughts exactly. I guess a short shovel is better than nothing, but man, something fuller-size is so much easier to use.

Similar. I like the looks of the cold steel above. If I had a rack, might put a longer handled shovel up there.

I mean if I’m going on a dedicated offroad trip I might throw a trenching shovel or something in the trunk. But for ā€œjust having it on handā€ you can’t beat an e-tool.
