Good Evening,
I had, from new, a 2018 JK Rubicon Recon 6spd with 4.10 gears two door. No rear seat, not lifted, stock tire size, maintained very well. In the upper mid-west and in the pacific north west my average MPGs at 70 mph was 17 with no head wind, 14.5 with a good head wind. With gear for a long trip, knock about 1.5 mpg off both numbers. I currently have a 2023 JLURD, the FarOut Ecodiesel. Over 19,000 miles on it (yes, I drive a lot) and my average doing 70 is 22, 55 mph I can hit 25 mpg. My average, all hand calculated in Excel, on the back roads I drive for work each day I average 22 mpg.

I am looking at a JL Rubicon, 2 door, 3.6L with the 8spd auto (because Jeep cannot figure out how a manual transmission works) and 4.10 gears. Sticker says 20 city and 24 highway. What are you all getting on hilly roads with wind and such? My theory, based on owning MANY FCA vehicles is that I will average 21 mpg. Thanks.

Exactly 21 MPG, at least for my '23 2-door Rubicon with 3.6L (eTorque), 8-speed auto and 4.10 gears. Stock 33" KO2 at 37 PSI cold summer (~35 in winter, iirc). Run 89 octane and a dry K&N panel filter, which likely has less effect on fuel economy than running the high tire pressures the factory recommends. My rural commute is a constantly hilly and windy 2-lane highways (45 to 55 MPH) with only a few short stoplights though a small town. Occasionally windy days. Just enough to push you around a bit, but usually nothing major. Everything is mostly stock weight-wise. Factory steel bumpers with a bullbar and hardtop. My eTorque battery probably adds a bit and isn't available for '24. I usually drive like a granny for 90% of every trip, but always dig into the throttle and put a good load on the engine when taking some of the larger hills.

The center dash almost always calculates 22 MPG, but my hand calculations at the same station and pump have been very consistently at 21 MPG after the initial break-in period of ~5,000 or so (started ~16 MPG and steadily increased during that time, then stayed at 21 for many months).

Just from experience with previous vehicles, I'm expecting my fuel economy will likely drop 1 to 2 MPG as we get back into winter and the gas stations switch to their winter blend and I tend to let the vehicle idle a bit longer from a cold start before driving off.

2dr 3.6 8spd (no etorque) 3.43 gear, 33" tires - 20.5mpg mixed long term average.

You'll be slightly worse with 4.10s and more elevation changes.

For reference:

2 door
2.0T ETorque, automatic
Stock Sport gearing with 33" tires

Mixed long term average 25mpg, around 22mpg in town, and about 28mpg at 70mph on the highway.

Doesn't seem to change when going up in to the mountains.

If fuel economy is a concern, I'd say consider the 2.0T and see if it works for your use case.

Also, agree that the blue font is difficult on the eyes.

We average 13-14mpg with 4.56 gears out of our v6 etorque, but the 39s and 3.5" lift aren't exactly fuel friendly.

Based on aerodynamics alone, I'd certainly agree with that.

And while I'd love to have it a bit better with my small gas tank, I'd consider the fuel economy I've been getting to be "acceptable" for a stock Wrangler in any config. And to me that really isn't some arbitrary number, but just the simple fact that I'm achieving over 300 highway miles per fill-up, which suits my needs just fine. If I had the bigger JLU tank, a few MPGs less would still be perfectly acceptable to me. The overall price of gas spent is a far second to useful range for my own criteria, but that's really something up to each buyer to decide what's acceptable and what's important before making their purchase.

If the JL only got 150 miles per tank, I simply wouldn't have bought one regardless of what the actual fuel economy was.

Yea its not like you are buying a commuter car here. If the difference between 15 and 18mpg is going to break you maybe a brand new Jeep is a bad idea.

FYI. Don’t be alarmed if you get a 2024 and your MPG is like 15 on average starting out. I’ve seen lots of comments on 2024s and their worse gas mileage. I have to imagine it’s due to break In. I personally am averaging 15 on the first tank of gas form the dealer driving around town in a 2024 2dr rubicon 3.6 auto

I recommend using the Drivvo App.

It is so easy to use and uses GPS. You can not only track gas mileage, but fuel expenses, maintenance, oil changes, etc...

You can get graphs for MPG, spending, etc. Month to month. Much more.

It also stays in their system. So if you log into the app when you switch phones. All of your data is saved on the server.

It's also free or you can also do a paid version (I use the free one)
