Does anyone know if shock squeaking is normal when your strut shaft is dusty and dirty, or is it a sure sign that your shock is going out?

Before anyone mentions bearings as a potential cause, I sprayed some WD40 on the strut shaft and it immediately stopped squeaking after that

Never had a functioning strut or shock squeak on any vehicle I’ve owned.

Well I’m hoping that’s not the case. It’s kind of hard to believe I blew a shock already... we don’t even do anything crazy in our Jeep— just light off-roading really. They’re brand new Rubicon Express 2.5 inch “Extreme Duty” mono tube shocks that we just had installed like a month and a half ago. They’re under warranty and it should be replaced for free if it’s gone bad already... but it really doesn’t bode well if that’s the case.

Curious as well, I have my front passenger shock squeaking and my ‘18 only has 17k on it, mainly streets with month off roading occasionally.
