I have about 1200 miles on the 6 speed and the squeak is getting worse. It isn’t the leather binding or the reverse connection and seems like it’s coming from the shift linkage...

Took the cup holder assembly off and couldn’t isolate where it’s coming from. Doesn’t effect driving but the squeak is slowly making my skin crawl!

I was going to wait until my first oil change but I don’t think I have the patience.

Anyone else have this issue and know if the fix?

Thanks!

Hey Swirvn, I'm at almost 5k kms and mine has started doing the same thing. It only makes the sqeak when going left/right. Gonna keep searching if I find something.

Thanks and I believe it’s the linkage spring under the shift boot. I tried greasing it but didn’t stop the noise. Taking it in this week to see if the dealership can put and end to the squeak. I’ll report back.

I just heard from the dealer and the shift linkage has to be replaced because of the squeak and noises when shifting. Part is backordered though but at least they found the problem.

Mine just started doing this at just shy of 3k miles.. super annoying. Any issues SWIRVN after they replaced your shift linkage? Or has it come in yet?

No return squeak once they replaced the shift linkage assembly. Took about 5 days to get the part in and had it back in a day after repairs.

I really believe it’s only just the spring in the linkage that is bad but I don’t think they can just change this part and pull the whole assembly.

Ok thanks. Guess I will be getting that replaced at my next service appointment along with the host of other issues I have... good times.

FWIW, I had the squeaking noise just in the left to right/right to left movement of the shift lever. The Dealer removed the center console, removed the cable from the shifter and lubricated the pin, reinstalled...noise is gone.

I think there is a star case or bulletin they could reference.

Mine just hit 1500 miles and i started to hear the noise. sqeak noise when moving shifter to left and right in nutural. took it to the dealer and they did the same thing. removed center consol and applied white lithium grease to cable ends and linkage. noise is gone. there is a bulletin for that shifter noise in their system.
