I took my freedom panels off a couple weeks ago and I got up to highway speeds (~65 mph) and it started to shake. And now whenever I take them off and hit those speeds it shakes. The shaking is in the steering wheel and the gas pedal. It’ll shake for a few miles and then stop and it’ll be fine until I let the Jeep sit for a while and get back up to ~65 mph. The shop said that the steering gear box is loose but doesn’t know if that is causing the shake.
Please help haha
Thank you for any help.

Please help
Are you sure it is not just wind buffeting?

Have your front suspension components checked and also check if any of your tires are out of balance.

I can't imagine that a loose steering box would only act up with the freedom panels off, though I suppose stranger things have happened.

I had the shop look at the alignment, the weights, along with the front end suspension parts and steering components. They said that they are all fine. The front differential is also leaking but the shop said that it isn’t significant enough to do anything, but I could see fluid on the outside of it.

I have looked at the parts myself and the front shocks are rusty but seem intact. The steering stabilizer looks about the same.( I believe it’s the steering stabilizer)

Have your wheels/tires re-balanced. Just looking at the weights on the wheels will not tell you anything.

If everything else looked at by the shop is OK, nothing else really explains it.

OF course, it could just be the wind buffeting the vehicle with the freedoms tops off that is making you think something else is going on. Many people are overly sensitive to that.

If it's the 16 in your profile, that's a JK. There may be a JK specific issue another forum would have posted.

I might end up having them do that.

The shake is pretty noticeable. You can visibly see the steering wheel shake.

If it is only when tops are off it is the wind doing things

Took my front panels and all doors off, went for a drive, although a bit windy of a day even at a stop, no issues reaching 75mph'ish without any shaking.
