Best thing a new Jeep owner can do:

The day it leaves the dealer lot take it into the woods and run the whole side against a tree. Yes, that will suck and you will be mad at yourself for a day or two. But the next few years you won’t worry at all about scratching it. Go out and do what it’s made to do! It’s way more fun than malls and ducks?
Yeah I just let all the new beauty marks come naturally..
Certainly nothing intentional.

@Philly_ Rock Hard sells front frame side LCA arm skids and Rusty's off road sells rear frame side LCA skids.
Been looking for a set of these forever. Looking at them not sure I like how blunt the front of them is, seems like it could catch on stuff.

Also doesnt really look like it covers all the way to the edge in the rear where mine always seems to get caught

Well, all I can say is that I feel a whole lot better now! I'm not even going to agonize over the imperfect paint line where the white paint meets the black trim. I guess it's true what they say, it's not mileage, it's smileage!!

Those three pedals definitely make it a whole other experience! There’s been plenty of times I’ve come down a bit harder than intended. Just cringe a bit. Then move on. Haha

I have to say its way more fun with three pedals. the faces you get to make and the noise the passengers make when you rub rock or come down hard is worth a good laugh.

I try to keep myself in the mind set that body damage can and will happen at some point. but as long as its on the trail and not at the mall. its all worth it

I get a lot of pinstriping from palmetto bushes, tree branches and such. Noting major. I think the biggest risk to my vehicles is from my kids bikes.

I have some bad OCD when it comes to the jeep. I hate dirty a** and scratched up vehicles so my jeep and love for rock crawling/trail riding REALLY tests my limits lol. But i have a few scratches on mine and my last trip, I came off a boulder (after being pulled off), came down so hard and some how launched hitting the passenger wheel against a tree. I bent my factory (plastic) bumper, broke my fender (XR btw), bent the lower control, track bar (entire front axle shifted to driver about a whole inch), and possibly the drag link but replaced just in case. Same incident a tree trunk when into my wheel between the tire and wheel breaking the bead.

And I bet it started out as such a fun day :(

Here’s my contribution. I guess those rocker skins might actually do something…

Kinda make me ashamed to share pictures of the 1/2 sq/in of paint blistering on my door.

I was recently lamenting my first repair on my 2022 JLU Sahara (new driver in household, new right fender), and I started thinking about the Jeep owners who actually take their Jeeps off road (there have to be some who still do this, right?). I have to assume that this results in some self-inflicted damage, but is that correct? How often do the off-road crowd damage their own rides just having fun?
I have been to MOAB, done the Rubicon and wheeled all over California. Lots of pin strips on paint and gouges on bumpers front and back but those were upgraded from stock early on - bumpers just got rattle can black to fix. Now the after market skid plates have been pounded - they are aluminum and had to have one taken off to be re-welded as it was massively cracked at a seam. I have a small crack on my hard top from hitting a tree when off camber on the Rubicon I need to drill and then fill. Rims are also pretty scraped up from rocks. All part of jeeping but have had no major panel damage either but friends have.

I feel so relaxed with all the scrapes and scratches. Now I know I'm not cut out for that pristine 911 or vette. Well, maybe an old vette with 35 muds and a jeep frame under it.

I put my first trail damage (ok, just some rock chips and pinstripes, but still!) on my JL the first weekend I had it. Figured it was better to get it outta the way up front. After that first one breaks you in, you don't worry about the rest. ;)
