Didn't anyone take pictures to document all this supposed sand?
When I asked the dealer for a photo of the sand in the engine this is what they sent me.

*Update*

I talked to @JeepCares and they are siding with the dealer on this one. When I asked if it was possible to bring it to another dealer to get a second opinion they told me that the decision for it not to be covered under warranty was final and that a second opinion would not overturn that result. At this point I just hope my insurance is able to help cover the cost.
Insurance denied my claim so I am now looking to get my vehicle towed to another dealer for a second opinion and to get worked on. However, the initial quote from the first dealer for a new engine is $13,889.20. I've thought about getting a lawyer to fight this however, that battle can take months and the outcome could still be the same. I'm in the Army and leave for Germany in May, and at this point I just want my jeep fixed so I can take it with me.

Even if they started now, you would be hard pressed to get it done by may. The "supply chain" issue is actually a global trade war.

The dealer you took it to had an easy big ticket warranty job that they could have done. You were honest and up front about how you used it, and they turned that into a culpable act to deny the warranty. I'm afraid that you Jeep may be flagged in the system, but checking with another dealer will be worth a try at least.

Since this is not covered by the warranty, you might want to take it to an independent mechanic to get the engine replaced. You can call around to get prices to replace the engine before you have it towed. My son recently blew the engine on his car and the dealer wanted 14k to replace the engine. An independent specializing in engines is rebuilding if for 3.5k. Don't know how that would affect the rest of your warranty, but the new engine should be covered by its own warranty.

If I went to an independent shop, I would go to a diesel specialist and have it rebuilt rather than replaced with another and have all of the recommended work done to bullet proof it as much as possible. Why not, as you warranty on the engine is now void.

You should also have your transmission flushed and service your axle fluid.

Kurt, I can see a dust trail. Is this the induction tube that connects to the airbox? Did the air filter show any visible distress (trying to implode from plugging) that might show bypass where it seats? Any cracks in the air filter housing that might allow dirty air on the backside of the air filter?
