Ah crap - I guess I need to drive a Rubicon if the suspension is stiffer.
MOAB has LSD, 4Auto and looks cool

One more reason to upgrade to a set of Mopar beadlocks or AEV borahs if you hate the black wheels

Dave, I would say the Sahara is right up your ally. My Sahara is used in the manner you described, sans the snow as I live in the south. And, if the ordering stays the same as it was for the '19's, if you order, or buy a Sahara with the "Cold Weather Group", heated seats, wheel, etc. you get the all terrain tires. The Bridgestone AT's on mine are surprisingly quiet, and ride very smooth. Another thing to think about is mpgs. The Rubi comes with 4.10 gearing, and the Sahara comes with 3.45. While not a lot of difference in the mpg's up front, over time it can certainly add up. Just some food for thought. Good luck on your decision

If you can afford it, why not buy the Rubicon? ...
Because you may not want to pay for features you won't use. Personally I'd never disconnect the sway bars, and probably never engage the lockers. I also prefer the more efficient gears in the Sahara over the Rubicon's 4.10's that I won't need. Why pay for them just because you can afford them. I could have bought a Rubi, but it wasn't worth the extra couple grand to me. No shade to anyone who bought/buys a Rubi, but you asked a question, so that's the answer of why not. At least my answer for it anyway.

Thanks, Guys. The Rubicon just looks a tad cooler to me. ...
Hard to ague with that. I love the hood, and the standard rims are nice too (the optional ones are not my style though).
That said, a Sahara can look pretty darn good with little effort.

..... the Rubicon comes with 33 inch All terrains that are no comparison to the Sahara free way tires. ....
Freeway tires? My Sahara had Bridgestone Dueler AT Revo3 tires. Granted it's not as rugged looking as the KO2's but it's still an AT tire. In fact tirerack groups them both in the same category "On/Off-road All-Terrain".

INDIANS!!!!!.......SAHARA!!!!!
Fixed it for you. ;)

If you like the looks for the Rubi, and the comfort and convenience of the Sahara... you just described a MOAB. .....
Exactly what I was going to say. If it had been available when I ordered mine, I would have got a Moab.

OP, I also agree with not liking the black rims. Those are easily swapped though.
In the photo above, I've got stock Rubicon rims, with 34" KM2 tires. Same tire, different size, as those put on the Moab.

Nice lookin' jeep there @Shots ! I like the blue hooks up front and I'm more and more convinced my next set of tires will have the white letters!

I appreciate all of the help guys. For me, I'm not looking to do anything besides buying a Jeep as-is. I have zero time for any mods. It will remain stock, at least for now :)

I think I'm staying with the original plan of the Sahara (which will be pretty loaded).

Greetings All:

I think I know the answer but I'd like to here from the experts here....

In looking for my Wrangler, my primary needs are:

- Winter vehicle, must be great in the snow

- Daily driver, 6 months of the year, during the winter months.

- Mild use in summer, likely when I need to haul (not tow) some stuff.

- No plans at this time for trials or rock climbing, that could change if I find time.

That said, I assume the Sahara is the best choice for me over the Rubicon? I assume the Rubicon is better suited for trials / rocks?

Thanks in advance.
Ok nobody else has asked so I am just gonna say it: Why are you getting a Wrangler at all?? If you are not gonna wheel or mod, why spend $50k for something that will be less comfy as a daily driver when other vehicles would be MUCH better at that AND still meet all your requirements???

Hey, I am not judging. If he wants one just because he thinks it looks cool, more power to him.

But honest advice (real talk) should include the option of getting another SUV that would be a much better daily driver but still meets all the other requirements at a likely much cheaper price.

Also, I ask to satisfy my curiosity. I don't understand getting a vehicle that's build for a purpose then not using it for said purpose, so I (genuinely) just want to know why he wants a Wrangler. I would ask the same of someone getting a giant crew-cab long-bed pickup and then only using it to drive to an office job and never to tow or haul anything.

I believe @DaveL addressed why he wants a jeep and not another vehicle in another thread.

I had the same struggle debating between Sahara and rubicon. Despite loving the look of the rubicon, the Sahara was just the better choice for the me because of wanting the select-trac and the better winter capability of it. In the end, it made the most sense.

I also knew I was going to be modding my jeep almost immediately, which I know you said you wouldnt do, but wow, it really changed the look of it!

Only thing is, I'm considering regearing it now. Wanted to wait to drive it be fore making that decision, but leaning towards it. So if you want the aggressive look and don't want to mod, maybe the rubicon is the better choice. But I'm happy with my Sahara and I'm sure you'll be happy with whatever you choose!

So, the list price is $50K, I won't be paying that..

I don't care for other SUV's. I like the look of the Jeep - reminds me of an H1 Hummer. And, I like the features.

My neighbor drives an H2, all tricked out with bigger wheels and tires. Nice vehicle. He never takes it off pavement. So what? The one thing the Wrangler has going for it is that it is still unique amongst a sea of homogenized look alike vehicles where you can't tell what it is without looking at the nameplate. That alone is enough justification to drive a Wrangler. I don't care if you get a Rubicon for a trip to the spa and that's all you ever do. Your Jeep your call.

There is nothing like a Wrangler. Whether you mod or not. Whether you wheel or not. It's ALL good!
