If you have a garage dual tops are great. Its nice to be able to take the top down quickly on nice days. But the hard top is awesome in the Chicago winters. I built my own electric hoist with storage platform for $250.00.
I will definitely have two tops, regardless of what decision I make. One already just comes included with both.

Isn't it better to have and not need than need and not have? or something like that.
Maybe, but they serve a completely different purpose. The Sahara definitely has it's pros over the Rubi for the daily driver who doesn't do much off roading... especially in the winter (and for a good handful, the selec-trac is a must have). Also it can do like 95% of what a Rubicon does, while lacking in cool factor. It can certainly keep up, but it's no Rubicon! :involve:

If Selec-trac is anything like 4wd auto on my RAM then its complete garbage. My truck is already sideways before it even detects traction loss.

The upgraded parts on a Rubi definitely outweigh getting a Sahara.
I agree, but are you planning to use your Jeep in a manner that requires the heavier duty suspension? Or do you need a daily driver that will get you on a few backroads, once and a while.

Rubicon has already taken the new car depreciation hit...

Either one will do what you want and then some. Is the Sahara truly new with 200 demo miles or was the warranty punched? You need to find that out. If warranty is unpunched it's a year newer in terms of warranty. How important is a extra year of warranty to you?

In some states like IL buying used from a private party can save you a couple of thousand bucks in sales tax alone. Private party sales tax is capped by year. New car sales tax is based on selling price. Check and see if this is the case with your state?

Another consideration is if you are doing a cash deal or financing? New car interest rates are usually less then used car rates.

If you will be driving it on-road and have time. Buy a 2020 sport and then add options you want which will make the on pavement ride best with maybe an Insane Head Unit or something you like. Jeep is probably the most customizable vehicle to own. Make sure you test drive as you need to know how they ride before purchasing anything

If you plan to hard trails rubicon, if you plan to occasionally wheel intermediate trails sahara is nicer in road and cheaper... I have had both, loving my rubicon and won’t give back but I love trailing

They are giving me an additional warranty totaling 5 years. Id be paying cash for either one, so not worried about interest.
However, when buying from private, I can save on taxes by marking it sold for less than what I really paid. I do it all the time at the dmv.

I don't want a sport. also, only upgrades id do on a sahara would be making it look more like the rubicon (wheels, bumpers, etc. minus the hood). I test drove both and honestly didn't notice a difference. I always rode rough vehicles.

How is the rubicon as a daily? How many miles you put on it now and any issues I should expect? Thanks!

Welcome to my hell. LOL Maybe my story will help. I went back and forth and back and forth and back and forth (you see the pattern here) for MONTHS about which one to buy. In the end I ended up with a Sahara, and while I do believe I bought the best model for my lifestyle (no regrets) I still want that Rubicon. Would I be happier with a Rubi? Maybe for a while... But that excitement of driving a Rubicon (as a daily driver who occasionally hits the backroads but never rides the hard trails) would eventually die off. The bottom line for me is the Rubicon was total overkill for my needs, regardless of want. I'll get my Rubi some day, but likely when my kids are grown up and I can buy a nice one used with lots of mods already added. For today though, the Sahara is the better model for my daily needs. Much as I hate to admit it. LOL

If you plan on doing a lot of off roading, Rubicon. If you want something better in the snow, the Sahara would be better. But both can do either. If the soft top doesn't matter to you, it will just be a hassle to store, but you can always sell that also. The Sahara sounds like the better deal, but I might still lean towards the Rubicon because it looks a little better stock.
This is what I was going to say
