I have the advanced safety group and I am glad I added it. I decided not to compromise on things I wish I would’ve wanted. I also bought the jeep with the intention to adventure the USA. I don’t think the Wranglers versions of ACC is as smooth as other vehicles with this feature but I use it a lot. I have learned the nuances of the system and know how to drive it to make it smooth. 14,000 miles on the jeep and almost all were from trips. I’m now on a 3.5 lift and have 37 and the ACC still work like it did stock. The FCW has also saved me from hitting a fellow jeeper when we were in a convoy donating toys to charity. I have never had the FCW go off when it wasn’t supposed to. Another thing to consider is that the ACC is probably going to make replacing a windshield more expensive…but setting the distance to track father might help mitigate breakage :)

Phantom breaking is an issue (big time in Tesla!) but I am not very familiar with how it is with Jeep. I would like to hear personal experience from owners.
We have all the "advanced safety" features in our '20 Grand Cherokee High Altitude. I use quotations because imo, they are crutches for driver's who don't pay attention. We joke that millenials don't know how to drive manual transmission vehicles because all they know is automatics, well the same applies here. If I know that my side mirrors will light up when a car is next to me then I become conditioned not to check my mirrors frequently. If I know the car will automatically slow down for me when approaching another vehicle, then I become conditioned to not pay close attention to following distances, and the list goes on.

One of the worst mandates (for removing driver skill) is the backup camera. I sit in the parking lot at my son's swim practice every day and, not joking, watch people take 3-4 attempts to back up into a parking spot, when if they simply looked behind them when backing up it would be much easier.

That being said, we have all those features set to off in our GC because we have experienced on several occasions the vehicle slamming on the brakes when traveling at freeway speeds and another vehicle enters the freeway from an onramp one or two lanes over, or coming around a curve and another vehicle is in the lane over but the vehicle senses it, etc. Even the automatic bright headlamps are so sensitive that if they reflect off a large road sign, they turn off, then back on, so many times on country, curvy roads with those nice yellow arrow signs indicating a curve approaching, the brights will turn on, turn off, turn on, turn off. It just gets annoying to be honest.

I'm sure others have different experiences, but these are mine & why I chose not to order any of the "safety" pkgs on our '22 Sahara Altitude.

No safety or advanced safety here.

I guess I’ll just live on the edge.

I’m one of those weirdos who actively dislikes adaptive cruise. I had it on a 4Runner and have driven several rental cars with it. None of the systems felt remotely natural or trustworthy.

So worth it in my book. Absolutely love Jeeps implementation of adaptive cruise control (it sucks in my wifes Honda Pilot). I also like the blindspot monitoring alert in the mirrors and the rear cross path detection is sweet too to help detect the jerk high speed parking lot drivers when you are trying to back out of space.

Park sense button (thankfully there is one) is set to off. That is a waste in my book.

As someone with two young kids who constantly drop stuff in the back or ask for me to pass back snacks/water - adaptive cruise is a game changer. Like @mllcb42 it’ll be hard for me to ever order another vehicle without it.

I have the Safety Group and Advanced Safety Group. When looking for my Jeep I really wanted the blind spot monitoring and Park-Sense. Both features are in the regular safety group, but the perfect Jeep for me just so happened to also have ASG (I bought used).

As someone who doesn't often use cruise control (adaptive or otherwise) I don't consider this package to be a Must Have. I like the peace of mind the forward collision monitoring gives me, but I wouldn't seek this package out in the future.

On the topic of ASG, here are just a few misconceptions that I'd like to touch on:

  1. The box housing the camera doesn't take up as much of your view as you may think the first time you lay eyes on it.
  2. You can still fold down the windshield with it.
  3. In my experience with the FCW set to 'short', I have never experienced un-needed braking, and only twice experienced a false alarm (both inside a parking garage).
  4. If you try to test out FCW, note that it's not on at slow speeds.

Mixed opinions, all valuable. I'm the guy who hates all the stuff beeping and flashing. Just don't need it. Thanks for the input.

We went with the Safety Group only, and are confident in our decision. Read the posts about the ASG using the brakes when vehicles are only merging onto the freeway. Or when in parking garages. many owners have turned off the braking feature.

I rented a car that had the adaptive cruise control, and it was very nice. Just not worth all the other problems, in my opinion.
Second this. The advanced safety is downright dangerous.

Who says these two items are definitely worth it?
i have both safety groups - so far i love them...you can turn off the parking stuff by a button on the dash, and you can adjust the settings (sensitivity) in the u-connect settings where it only would kick in at least as possible.....

the part i like was how much i saved in car insurance having the options

You can easily turn off the auto braking in the menu settings and leave the notification on which is exactly what I did.

I have both SG and ASG, and would gladly pay for both again. I'm finding that the older I get, the nicer some of these features are. Love the ACC and auto high beam dimming.

Insurance companies usually take a percent off of the premium if the vehicle is equipped with accident prevention technology.

Yep, agreed. That's what I'm doing in my 392 when it shows up since it includes that option by default.
