That repair kit looks like no joke. I may get that kit after I get my first crack and do the repair on my own. In additional to Stellantis free one time replacement, I have zero cost windshield replacement with my insurance, but i think I would rather try to repair as much as possible to reduce the likelihood of bad replacements.
On the same page, you can buy a piece of automotive glass with a bunch of chips/cracks to practice on. Invaluable to getting good results!

Yesterday I had a new chip repaired. Safelite has changed their process. No more drilling. The tech simply put a suction cup over the damage and pressed a button. The system supposedly forced resin into the chip/crack. The problem is the damage looks exactly like it did before the repair. The tech said that's how they all come out now. Even the paperwork now says the objective of the repair is to stop the damage from spreading, not improve the appearance.
Ok so it's not just me. A few months ago we had a small crack repaired by Safelite and it looks no different than before. I asked the tech about still seeing it and he pretty much said what you do above. Ours is on the drivers side but pretty low so doesn't really bother me, but had I known this would be the outcome I'd just do it myself! Only benefit I see is that it was 100% covered by my insurance.

I had my windshield replaced by SafeLight two weeks ago. I had to request the OEM part, they tried to push the aftermarket on me.

$1100 including $250 to "Recalibrate" the ACC. Free glass repair in my state too.

I have a small chip in my front windshield and Safelite told me it's not repairable. I don't know how true that is or if they were just hoping I'd tell them to replace the whole thing.

One would HOPE they aren't full of BS. I know we had the first chip/crack repaired in ours and it didn't look any better but then the second crack was small and when it got cold out recently turned into a huge crack top to bottom. Now trying to find the glass with the acoustic part number and all I see on Mopar is standard or Gorilla at $600+!

I've only had to have one replaced so far (knock on wood) back on a JK some years back. At the time, it was replaced with new OEM windshield by Safelite and no affect on my insurance at all. That's with State Farm in SC.

Not yet, but they can cancel your insurance if you bring it in for repairs as often as the JL seems to attract rocks. I limit my trips to safelight to one or less a year. Bad season here is around Feb due to poor roads during snow ice season, causing rocks the size of gold balls.
