Hey hey! So, I got my '23 Wrangler Sahara back in March 2023 and within a few months had a small crack on the windshield from a rock on the highway. Well, that small crack has turned into a large crack after another hit to the windshield. Because it's within a year since I purchased, I thought maybe my warranty would cover the repair but they said that's only for covers Gorilla Glass windshields. Weird that my warranty covers a windshield that wasn't used for my car since they told me that this wasn't something I could select in my build just "some come with it". I can't imagine that's the case but regardless, any advice on cheap repairs, how to get my dealer to cover it this first time around *fingers crossed*, or even just where to go for a cheap replacement (located in Central TX).

Thanks from *girl learning car repairs* :)

I can’t help with the Gorilla Glass but I have had my windshield replaced twice at a local independent glass shop for less than $200 each. Not OEM, I know, but as often as it is happening I’m ok with that. Call around the independent shops and ask.

You don't have glass coverage on your insurance policy?

I'm thinking of handling the repairs without insurance to avoid any hikes in my insurance rates, considering the cost is manageable. So, my question is, are all the windshield options for my Jeep pretty subpar, and I just have to deal with replacing them often because of cracks? I mean, I've already had two cracks in just the first year. Or is there an option for a better-quality windshield, even though it might be pricier, could save me from having to replace it every year?

It’s not that the options are subpar, it’s the angle of the windshield. Instead of deflecting rocks it catches them. I try to get my rock chips filled before they turn into long cracks.

Oooh, that makes a lot of sense and that's a pro tip ? definitely didn't do that when I should have. So, do you think it'd not really worth getting a more expensive glass or like the Gorilla Glass? I feel like i read on other threads here that people don't think it's much better.

They break just as easily. Save your money, go with a cheap one since you’ll be replacing often haha

Go with the cheaper glass and keep a bottle of repair resin on hand. RainX has one that I use. I had to fill a bullseye in my two week old Gladiator this weekend, ?.

A warranty covers defects in material and workmanship. Getting hit by a rock is not one of those defects. Get a price at a glass shop.

I've had good luck with Safelite. I've had countless chips repaired that the insurance covered, even in TX. Between my 2 JLs and 1 JK they've put in 5 windshields for me. You can take it to them or they will come to your home or work to do the repairs.

I know it's an old thread, but a search turned up many even older.

So, I got a bad crack in the windshield of my '21, but it was on the passenger side, so it didn't really bother me. But it began to really irritate the wife, so I went to the dealer and they quoted $800 for the glass and $375 for the installation.

After I got home and changed my shorts, I contacted Safelite. The tech came by the next morning and the new glass was installed in 30 minutes for $250.

I'm a happy camper. :)
