For what you're trying to accomplish just buy a Teraflex or AEV spacer lift. I have the TF leveling kit 2" front and 1.5" back. It will ride like it does now with the little extra height you want.
Doesn’t a spacer lift make it stiffer since the spring is under more tension? I thought that’s the whole reason spacer kits are looked down on. I still want to wheel with the jeep as well.(although nothing serious or crawling)

They would be the same springs. The Rubicon springs will definitely be stiffer. I noticed that right away.

No. It cannot create more tension compression. A spacer simply lifts it up.

Ok so then why do people hate on spacer lifts? Any negatives?
They have limited travel for off-road articulation. People poo-poo things when they aren't the be-all, end-all solution. If you like your ride quality, and want a little more height, a spacer is economical and efficient. You just have to watch for "topping out" the shocks. If that happens, the ride can really get rough. Solutions for that are shock extensions or longer extended length shocks. You shouldn't get into that with 1"-1 1/2" spacers.

So it can still be “wheeled” off road somewhat properly, it just can’t take a real beating or full on articulation?

All suspensions have limits of articulation. A spacer lift is just a bit more limited (or a lot more limited when compared to a full off-road suspension) You'll be able to push it to ITS limits. No worries. Just don't expect that you'll keep all the wheels on the ground when someone with a full off-road suspension does.

I think you said you have the eTorque and a Willys 4dr JlU correct?

If so your current springs may be the same on each side.

I have a 2021 4dr Willys with 3.6 eTorque + hard top, with the plastic bumpers and no tow package. My springs are the same number on the drivers and passenger side (confirmed by my vin).

Front springs are 68253659
Rear springs are 68253588

I believe it’s the added weight of the eTorque 48v battery on the drivers side frame tail added cooling system for the battery on the drivers side of the engine bay. If you look at the spread sheet in the sticky thread on suspension some eTorque are set up that way. My spring combination 59/59 & 88/88 is very close to what came on some Saharas and Rubicons.

Like you I was originally going to do a rubicon spring swap to the highest number/stiffest I could find. I ordered a set of 62/62 & 92/92. They were $330 for new springs. But I’m going to return them.

now considering a 1 - 1.5” spacer lift.

The problem is that no one makes a 1.5” spring lift kit for the Sport. Everything is 2” or more. Synergy makes a kit but I can’t find any reviews on it Synergy 1” starter kit

Decisions Decisions. LOL :CWL:

Nice so we are in the same boat. Clayton makes a 1.5” kit but it’s $1500 lol.

Check the notes on that kit. It’s based on Rubicon stock height so I expect it’s more like 2.75 for a Willy’s. The notes say it’s 2” for gas engine + Willy’s is shorter than rubicon.

“*Gas engine JL's can expect to gain about 1/2" more lift than advertised, 4xE model JL's will gain advertised height”

“Expect to gain around 1.5 - 2" of lift total, and slightly more for a 2 door model depending on the build. 4xE's can expect to gain around 1.5" of lift total.”

The synergy kit I linked above uses their 2DR springs on the 4dr to give 1” of lift. But it’s also based on rubicon so I’m thinking a Willys would see 1.75 - 2” of lift and they are recommending other parts as well in the notes.

I only want around 1 - 1.5” of lift total so spacers or Rubi spring swap are the only real options.

I go back and forth on returning the springs or just keeping them and putting them on + the Mopar lift kit longer LCA’s. It would be a simple 1.0 - 1.25” lift. Maybe +/- a bit. And can use rubicon shocks or upgrade to fix or Bilstein later.

Which spring part numbers are on you rig currently? There is a white tag on them with the part number. Or you can call the dealer and confirm part numbers for front & rear. Just make sure they confirm all 4 spring part numbers.

Yeah man decisions decisions. It’s seems to me the rubi spring route is the way to go since it’s more a “real” lift. Bonus points you can use the existing shocks as well. I think that’s the way I want to go. It looks like we have the same Willy’s setup, though. Would you mind shooting me links to the rubi springs you have and what I’d need to order? Same with the LCAs like you mention. Not sure if necessary with a small lift? My only hesitation is do we need the same springs on each side with the eTorque or not? If the springs are special on our Willy’s with the eTorque, does it matter which rubi spring setup we use? I’d hate to have any lean or sag after installing on one side.

We are in exactly the same boat.

You’ll want to confirm which springs you have now. Either crawl under and check the tags or call a dealer parts counter and as them to confirm from you Vin.

From reading the forums general consensus is a lift of about 3/8” for each 1 number you go up in spring height but there is no way to know exactly.

So in my case I would be going from F 59/59 & R 88/88 to 62/62 & 92/92. So that is +3 up front and +4 on the rear. If the forums are right (and that is the big IF!!) I’ll gain 1.125” up front and 1.5” on the rear. So if I do keep the springs I’ll probably add a small spacer to the front(?). That’s why I’m on the fence. A spacer you know exactly what lift you get. Springs it’s a bit of guesswork.

I found the springs on eBay and they are new. I’ll send you the info. I bought the LCAs for $70 but they are not required if just going to rubicon height. They add caster which makes the steering less loose / wandering on the freeway.

Thanks man, yeah I gotta see the springs I currently have but I’m guessing the same as yours. Also, I like a little stock rake, so maybe keep the front a tad lower like it will be?

another thought I had was the newer Willy’s (‘23 or ‘24?) come with 33’s and I think the rubi fenders. I wonder if those springs are the same as rubi springs now?

I don’t know about the 23 or 24 Willys springs but you might be right.

I have a very slight slight rake to the front now. Maybe 1/4”? So i just need to figure out how to keep it that way and not get too much more. Maybe 1/2” spacer up front.

Spacer lifts limit up travel of the system. Basically, what you are doing with a spacer is "lowering" the upper spring perch on the frame of the vehicle. That's why they are looked down upon. They're a great budget friendly way to achieve lift, but have some limitations. If you are looking to max out an RTI ramp and have a lots of articulation, they aren't for you.
