Hi - I'm a newbie to the whole Off Road Jeep Thang, so bear with me....

In regards to "External Lighting" for my Rubicon JL/4XE... What are my options ?

I have the AUX Switches on my interior dash panel

I'm looking for a simple lighting kit (and affordable)

I just want to extend and widen my line of site at night... (Not looking to light up the whole forest)

Can anyone send me some photos of their lighting modifications..? ( Please Include brands, model info and Installation Guidance)

Do you have the AUX switches? If so I’d personally recommend the Mopar A-pillar lights. The 5 inch pods. They will need the a-pillar brackets too. It’s literally a 45 minute install.

Amazon nilight are a good option and you can pick different packages with individual lights and light bars.

Word of caution:
Make sure whatever brackets you use are designed for use on the 4xe. Standard A-Pillar brackets will NOT work because we have the charging port on the drivers side. Brackets like this from SHEAM take into account the larger shroud.

As far as lighting goes, make sure whatever you get is aimed properly and has a good reputation. Pods like Nilights and Auxbeam don't have the greatest rep of standing the test of time against weather or rugged use (IE: off roading). I'm biased but I think Morimoto makes one of the best bang for the buck products on the market when it comes to pods. They're running 20% sitewide currently so you can take advantage of some great deals. I personally run 4 2Banger NCS pods in wide amber and combo amber flavors attached to some basic cowl brackets from amazon. They suit my needs perfectly.

I'm probably going to start looking into the LUX monster series for rock lights next year. Can never have enough lighting when it comes to night wheeling.

Auxbeam and Novsights are a couple of brands I have used on my Jeep.. both are incredible value for money compared to the more expensive ones.
Both these brands provide wiring harnesses with their lights and come with blackout cover to be street legal where they require off-road lights to be covered.

Assuming you have LED lighting package, here is usually the additional stuff you need

- Combo/driving beam light that can provide wide and long additional light to see the whole road and whats ahead clearly. If you are using a dedcated spot beam - that should be mounted on the cowl, if you are using a combo beam (spot top, wide-flood bottom) prefer to mount that on the bumper facing forward.

- Flood lights on top of the bumper (preferably amber/yellow) to see the terrain you are crawling through. Amber/3000k lights help you perceive the terrain structure better, white light tends to flatten the terrain (too bright, reflects)

- Flood lights (small ones) on the cowl pointed slightly angled out to light up the ditches and sides.

Optionally
- replace the stock fog light with Diode Dynamics or Morimoto amber ones that are far better - or cheap out like me and put an amber film on top of stock led light.
- Amber chase lights at the back if you do a lot of dusty runs with a group

Some pics with ref of lights (mix of auxbeam and novsights)

Interested to learn how you were able to stack/position one pod above the other without interference.. thats a fantastic setup
