Hello everyone! First, my wife and I own a 2021 Jeep Wrangler Rubicon and we love to travel. Next, we are buying a iKamper 3.0 to save in the long run. Finally, I have been researching appropriate roof bars/racks and am a bit confused regarding weight capacity. We are looking at the Barricade HD Roof Rack with a 350lb capacity…but does not state whether the weight is dynamic or static? Any help with respect to appropriate roof racks to hold RTT and sleep two adults would be much appreciated.

UPDATE: My wife and I are seriously looking into the Gobi…

Should we be concerned with drilling or altering any parts on our 2021 Jeep Wrangler Rubicon? We feel this is our best option, but have not found much on YouTube or directions regarding these two concerns. Thank your, everyone! You’re the best!!

Dug around to see if I could find you info and was also unable; not normally a good sign. Pick a different brand that is willing to state what the ratings are.

I would not trust a gutter mounted rack with a rtt. I have a ikamper 2.0 on a Gobi rack and I've been very happy with the set up.
100%. I'd look at Gobi and ARS for full frame. There is at least one that cuts through the top to mount to the sport bar, I believe.

Gobi roof racks
Designed with style & durability to maintain a safe driving load capacity of 300lbs.
In addition, the static load capacity easily holds up to 800lbs. for roof top tents and their occupants.
Did they really redesign their racks so they no longer press against the side of the Jeep? Note that their bars are only 1.5" in diameter. They look beefy until you pull up next to a rig with 2" bars (e.g. ARS').

I have the Garvin Adventure Full rack, which can support 600 lbs at a stop and 300 driving—plenty for RTT. What I like about the Garvin, other than the fact that the owner is really cool, is that it is super strong but doesn’t require you to cut through your roof, meaning it can be uninstalled and your rig returned to full stock.

Unfortunately, I can't answer that as I don't have one on my Jeep, but I used to had it on my previous Jeeps; no complaints at all.

You can run an RTT with the right gutter mounted setup. I have been running Exposed Racks for 3 years on my JL with a 23Zero RTT (147#) and had ZERO issues. Fairly inexpensive solution, easy on/off, and does exactly what it needs to do with out a bunch of extra setup or cost like a GOBI. Wife and I sleep up there both plus gear so I'd imagine we are pushing 600# when it's all said and done including gear.

Don't get me wrong, GOBI is great and they are a local company. But they are expensive and have long lead times. Exposed Racks is less than half the cost and no waiting 2 months for it.

So, even though the front is connected in the cowling and the back is connected just under the hard top…I should look for roof rack connect to rear bumper? Is that what you mean?

I've got the frontrunner and it's very solid and I believe can handle at least as much as any other. It does require drilling the hardtop and installation of brackets to the roll bar. I'm very happy with it.

When you google "Barricade HD Roof Rack" a rain channel mount is what pops up. The cowl/rear connection definitely is a better solution, but like others, I'd make sure you get a quality one that states loading.

I actually was looking at a Garvin, but it doesn’t ship for 12 weeks.

I found the Barricade HD Roof Rack on extremeterrain.com. Do not know if that helps. But, thank you so much for all hello!!!
