Been seeing several companies starting to come out with them now. Have there been any reviews? I was looking at the ACE sliders but did come across a bad review somewhere about the paint not being durable at all.

I wouldnt buy something painted/coated.I'd buy bare steel and paint yourself - if you plan on actually using the Jeep. The reason being is that if you buy powder coated sliders and scuff them up on the rocks, you can't easily cover it. If you buy them bare steel and paint them rattle can yourself, it's easy to fix after a wheeling trip with just a little spray touch up.

I wonder if you can find some sliders that are galvanized, or maybe have some dipped? That tends to last a long time, and scratches tend not to rust past the scratch. A buddy of mine building a CJ-8 Scrambler is having various items dipped. If you want to avoid rust that can work well. Typically if you want to paint over the galvanizing, a latex based primer is recommended. Although I have also used some enamel and it held up ok.

These sort of galvy sliders are popular on Land Rovers. (In fact I plan to weld up a pair and have them dipped for my old Series this summer.). This version does not provide area for a "step up". But also it avoids sticking out far to catch on things. So depends on what you want. Rover owners often leave the sliders unpainted, to match the other galvy bits. Might want to paint them on a Wrangler though.

The ACE sliders appear to hang down lower than I prefer. I’m sure there will be plenty of options soon enough. If you can’t wait, you could have some custom built by a local fab shop. Some I had built some years back on a previous Jeep: Jeep Wrangler JL Rock Sliders 1FB9A130-D717-46AA-A26D-8346601871E8

That picture doesn't look like my ACE sliders on my JL. ACE sliders sit just under the Rubi rails. So you have 1" more protection and less clearance at the point of the Rubi rails. (Since they bolt to frame and not the tub you get better protection.) They angle up a bit so no loss of clearance laterally.. Anything that bolts to the tub will not provide near the protection as one that bolts to the frame. Lots of videos of people who warped their tub using rails that bolt to the tub. Tough when your door no longer opens due to warped opening.
Also there is advice on the slider thread about keeping them looking nice. When mine get a few nicks, i'll over spray with black rattle can, then use it to touch up.

Ok cool. Think I’m going to pull the trigger on those ace sliders. Can’t remember now what I had on my jk but I liked the fact that it helped block people opening their doors into my Jeep. Do you see the aces helping with that also?

I had the ACE Sliders on order since Feb 21st so I just canceled my order since I've yet to here anything. Plus there's been some odd fitment reviews plus they are expensive.

I'm hoping to find some Rubicon rails locally or I may just buy them from the dealer.

Buy bare steel...you can buy galvanizing paint.

Just received an update from Northridge 4x4 on my Ace Engineering rock rails. Ace had to modify the front mounting bracket due to some squeaking issues on the early release, all in stock rails have been modified and the revised edition are starting to ship. Mine should ship out next week

That's a bit of an oxymoron considering Ace sliders are some the cheaper sliders on the market.

Not really when stating relative facts.

ACE are the cheapest of the rails for sure. I'd recommend them in conjunction with the Rubicon rails. They look weird alone.

I had the Ace sliders on my JKU which also had Rubicon rails. I installed the Ace ones and kept the rubicon ones on as well. In a way it looked odd to me as you could tell there were two different rails on the Jeep. I really like the Recon rails, but they don’t have something similar for the JL.

I ended up ordering the Mopar performance rails...steel ones that are like the rubicon one I have now but wider.

I have the NFAB sliders with removable steps ordered. I had these on my JK and they were great, I got my order in early for these and last communication should have them in a couple weeks.

Noob question but what sliders mount to the body? Ace, JCR, or Nfab rkr rails? I saw on JCR website that those do but they're the most expensive of them if you want them coated. Otherwise, not bad.
