Could something like this be installed on the inside (Northridge4X4 link at bottom)? I have two concerns, 1 I have read that some of these lights get hot and two I worry that they may be too bright... I have not found a decent option yet for interior (under dash and under seats) lighting. I posted a link for the ones I am seeing everywhere for 99.99 but I hear mixed reviews like they won't remember what color you had them on and that they don't stay in place well.

Looking for red, will want to hook up to the aux switches I have OTW...

If there is a good interior option that is better then please chime in.

Item in question: Will they get too hot are they too bright for interior?

So far the best I can find...

The KC Cyclones lights work great, but might be too bright for normal driving conditions. Take a look around and you can find a thread where another user replaced his stock courtesy lights with these and it worked well. I’d recommend trying to put them on the dimmer switch to see what happens.

@David F. you May want to look at something like this for inside:
I have a set of white, waiting to be installed as courtesy/puddle lights. I have tested them out and they are not as bright as a pair of rock lights that I recently added, and for $20 ‍♂
Getting the red ones, I like the set up and how small they are. I think that is what appealed to me most about the rock lighting. Thanks for the link, will try to report after install.

Unfortunately my sport has the courtesy lights but not the ambient lighting so I could add red lights to come on when the door opens but not while driving if I followed that thread. I got the base model so the only thing that fades is the cup holder and door handle lights.

Hope a new JL (Previously had a JKU)
I see a couple of options for you...

First if you want to add some lights, I found these and they look promising as they mount with just some magnets and may not be as bright as the KCs.

Also, if you want to just keep your current courtesy lights you can always go with some red tail light vinyl which you can pick up at your local auto parts store or from amazon.
