I don't know if this is by design or not. When I remote start my jeep ('22 JLUR) regardless of how long it's ran as soon as I open the door the engine is shut off. My wife's car doesn't do this, it requires you to get in the car and hold the brake and hit the start button to be able to drive. Am I missing a setting or is something wrong?

The first time it happened I thought the timer had just ran out. But the last time it happened I was walking towards my jeep when I started it and within 30 seconds I opened the door and the engine stopped.

Yeah that's not supposed to happen.

What does the dash say when you open the door?

I'll look next time it does it, but I don't remember it looking any different than normal when I don't remote start.

That doesn’t happen with mine. I believe when I use remote start I don’t have to step on the brake first either. Just push the start button. Will double-check for sure tomorrow.

Have to take the Jeep in for some body work from when it was shipped. May ask them to take a look at this too while it's in.

Had a bit of a moment the other day…… yes, we’re going on a bit of a tangent here, bear with me………

I picked up the new Wrangler on Friday - this will be my excuse in a minute, just wait for it.

We stopped at a rest area for a bio-break, and on the way back to the Jeep, I used the remote start.

We climb in - it’s still running - and I put my seatbelt on, get ready to leave….. but the tranny won’t shift out of park. My first thought is ‘NOT EVEN 200 MILES AND IT‘S BROKEN!’ ……… followed by ‘oh, I forgot to push the start button, that works much better’ ………….

Which is a very long and embarrassing way to say that your Jeep isn't working as designed and you should have it checked by somebody smarter than me.

And I will say that if you remote start and then open the hood, it'll kill the engine. That’s as designed, I found that out on Day 2 ……

This is what our 2013 JKU did... never did figure it out but I can tell you my 21 Gladiator stays running after you open the door. Hopefully its just a setting..

I've noticed that mine would do that sometimes but it was only when I opened passenger or tailgate. I just figured it was some sort safety feature.
