I don’t have remote start on my jeep, unfortunately, so on cold mornings I will go out and start the jeep in my driveway. I live in a neighborhood so I don’t want to just leave the keys in it for anyone that may want to drive away with it, but hate it honking 3 times when I go to close it up and lock with the key fob. I know my neighbors would love it if I could stop this from happening at 6am! Anyone know of a way to stop this, besides don’t do it or leave the keys on it?!?

There are a few posts on this. The short answer is leave the fob in or don't do it, however, you can always do what I do. Close the door slowly until it touches and doesn't count as closed. Beyond that, I am not sure of an answer, unless Tazer or something similar has added the option.

use the second fob to lock and unlock after starting keeping the main fob in the jeep. I can say though my 2018 JLU doesn't honk if the key is left in it while running. Only thing i get is a warning on the dash fob left vehicle with 4-6 chime's from the dash warning

It’s absurd to think that you should either have to leave your keys in a running vehicle, unlocked no less, or leave a door open to achieve this. Even more absurd is to spend $350 on a piece of hardware that will be used once to correct a stupid feature they put on it. If nothing else, the dealership should be able to disable this. SMH

May seem absurd, but the locksmith will charge at least $100 every time you lock your keys inside the vehicle. Me? I’ll take the beeps.

BTW, you should be able to install remote start for under $500. That is, unless your Jeep has a manual transmission...

Before you shut the door, place your fob on the upper rear door hinge. With the fob in place, shut the front door. No honks, now lock your doors with the fob. Problem solved, price = free.

Now if I could only find that sweet spot / location on my 2022 RAM 5500.....it has the Three Honk Nightmare as well.

Holy shit it works!

I played with it, the fob wants to be in a particular spot just above the rear door's upper door hinge.. weird.
I'll play with it some more but thanks for the solution!

I stole the idea from someone else, but I try to share it every time the topic comes up. It's basically muscle memory for me now, but I still forget occasionally.

Ill have to find the places that it wants to be on the rear gate for sure. I have the Tazer, for many things other than just the 3 honk kill but it only works on the drivers door.

The reason they have to have it warm you is because of the stupid people who have left their vehicles running when in the garage etc. There was an article a few years back about a family whose elderly parents died from that and they were able to get a hefty settlement from a manufacturer.

It's the same reason why we have the fucking auto park BS: someone got killed because they put their vehicles in neutral instead of park and their family successfully sued Mopar for a hefty sum because they died.

To me it's not absurd at all when you realize the liability and cost aspect.

(E) Forgive the grammar issues etc, mobile sucks...
