How much is a regearing by the way lol
How much is it the 1st time or how much does it cost by the time the job is done right?
I still get black out mad thinking about my first 2 bolo’s before I quit letting a shop touch my rig for anything.

The ones saying you don’t need to regear, have not regeared.
Jeep Wrangler JL Regear or no Regear wron

i had sport on 35s with stock gears, and a few friends have as well. it drives fine on the street. OMG im not in 8th gear all the time. help!! i did plenty of aggressive off roading on 35s with stock gears as well, only struggled a couple of times. it doesnt sound like OP is looking to do anything like that.

for 37s, i absolutely regeared. i have done BOH trails in big bear so id need the gears for the 37s for sure. i also put the 35s back on with the gears. so ive ran it with 35s both with and without gears.

does it drive different than stock on 35s? sure. is it optimal? no. is it bad? it didnt bother me at all. my female cousin and buddy are both stock on 35s going on 3+ years now and theyve never complained about it. daily driven on streets and freeways. the female cousin even has E rated tires.

i love how some people are so quick to spend other people's money lol. all you need is about $10k and you'll be good. for now. actually, for 35s you should probably get Dana 60s, so maybe $15k-20K.

nothing like spending a few grand on re-gearing and having vibrations or whining sounds after, that the shop blames on the parts.

some will say go drop $5k on rubicon take off axles so you can get the 4.10 gears. then others will chime in and say how that's terrible and you need at least 4.56 or 4.88s. it never ends lol.

so you can see 8th gear on the freeway...

put the 35s on and see for yourself if its so bad that you need to spend another couple grand to satisfy some random guy on the forum.

I have regeared, I installed 4.88s in my rig for my 37s… and just because it’s perfect for my rig, ( I see and it stays in 8th gear, gained 2 mpg (I don’t care about that though) and it’s better crawling/climbing.) doesn’t mean I’m gonna tell everyone they have to do it…. It should be researched and planned out individually……

My statements don’t go back far enough. I want to say it was around $1500 labor for front/rear. Parts were refunded. Another $750 to re-do the rear. By the time they gave up I’d been refunded all but the front regear (so I paid for 3, got 1, then got refunded the 2 that failed). I then bought parts and tools to do it myself. Press, beam torque wrench, adapters I didn’t have, large socket, and a dial gauge. Dana-Spicer parts. I screwed it up once and then got it right. Still cheaper than trying another shop.

you like to drive fast my friend lol. at that point regearing may be in your future. its definitely worth if if you have the $. even if you dont, worst case really is you burn a bit more gas.

regear or not, you'll want to get a recalibration tool like the tazer or similar. to let the jeeps computer know you have changed the tire size. even still, thats not mandatory. the people i know that are stock on 35s have never adjusted it. theyre people who just want to drive around in a lifted jeep on 35s and it works for them.

Probably not the best reference but - My pavement princess was on stock gears with 37s and never bothered me on the highway 70-80mph. Around town it was great. Here is a pic to show you the difference in standard flares and Rubicon flares, you can see at least 2"s of clearance. I must mention, these pics are with Mopar 2" lift as well.

I paid $2100 in early 2020. It is safe to estimate $3000 (parts and labor) for a reputable shop to do a gear job in todays market. Shop around If you decide to go that route.
Could be higher could be lower.

Whats up guys ! Got my first Jeep couple months 2021 Willys 2.0 and looking to put some 35s on it . With what i been researching is a bit confusing to reager or not , the car is my everyday drive and here and there some easy off-roading with the family and kids . On top of that for the 35s i have seen some videos online saying that you dont need a lift kit you can do it with Rubicon fenders, anyone done it?
Ps. If anyone has a set of 35s in Chicago land let me know ..
If you go up to 37s on a 2.0, I would read gear, otherwise 35s aren't that big enough of a difference that it makes sense to spend the money getting it re-geared.

Your Willys comes with 32-in tires, You're only gaining 3 extra inches of tire size. When you're gaining 5, that's a different story. Significantly more rubber in there, significantly more weight.

So at least with a 2.0, I don't think you'd have to re gear. Maybe if you had a 3.6 l with significantly less torque, then yeah sure probably. But the 2.0 is torque is plenty to handle the extra tire size of 35s.
