@BDinTX wouldn't that change diff when I swapped front to back and back to front, cause the front still working correctly with both sensors and the back still erratically with both sensors
Ah ok yeah. Probably not the sensor.

There’s a fair amount of discussion about this in the gears section. Here’s one of the links.
https://www.jlwranglerforums.com/forum/threads/locker-sensor-failing.64774/page-2#post-1374642. See post #25

the sensor assemblies come from TE, or at least they did a few years ago. Even having ties into electronic components and TE, because it was a proprietary design for the axle mfg, they could not give out part numbers for the specific Hall sensor. But I think the example parts I was able to find are very close the one they are using.

The two current levels cause different voltage drops across the sensing circuitry’s resistance. So if measuring with a voltmeter, you will see two different voltage levels.

edit to add: see post#27. By that point I had discovered parts having the “resistor“ integrated.

From this, we can have 2 solenoid that catch the dtcm signal to the locker activation, so we can have selectable factory or switch enabled

Bringing this thread back from the dead.

i just started having this issue about a week ago. Locker locks no problem it also unlocks no problem but the locker light flashes for the rear locker unlock status and doesn’t ever seem to get the signal the the locker is unlocked even though the locker does in fact unlock. I checked wiring harness for visible damage and found no problem.

i am a novice at best with wiring, but what steps can I take to trouble shoot? Or odd there a known wiring harness replacement that will help me get the light functioning normal?

Your situation sounds like the sensor or its circuit is the problem.

From reading other threads I don’t think it is the sensor. I’ve had it potted for a long time. The locker still works and it sensed when it was locked just not sensing the unlock.
From what I’ve read as others have had similar issue it was the wiring harness. When I search for a wiring harness all I find it the two wire solution wired to the aux switches.

Yes, most systems don't use a position sensor. Bronco has the same differentials, but no position sensor. I have a Bronco locker coil in my front, since my OEM coil fried internally, and Jeep nor Dana will sell them separately. You have to purchase an axle assembly flange to flange. Go figure.

So I unwrapped all the wiring from the sensor through the axel and up to the plastic connector that hooks on to the bolts.

i find the wires from the sensor to the port connection were still intact but missing insulation and the blue wire had pretty much cooked the insulation. I de pinned the wires and insulated them with shrink wrap.

my locker light still flashing. locker does engage and disengage. while in run if I disconnected the sensor I got an error on the dash. When plugged back in just the indicator flashing.

I’d like to replace the wire harness inside the diff but can’t seem to find the part number with my Google fu.

any suggestions are welcomed.
