great! My little ones are now on boosters.... but I know others might benefit if you can share how you actually removed them.

Looks great without them!

New guy here. I read through this I’m entire thread last night and still didn’t see a solution. Just wanted to comment and say that it is possible! Couple beers and a few hours later. The headrest is off completely. It would have gone much faster if i wasn’t working at night with a headlamp!

So my kid did this. She "locked" the belt with no slack. I either remove the headrest, disconnect the belt pulley, or never have a seat belt for that seat.

Ideas?

God, that sucks!
Is the anchor point on the floor accessible? It used to be just a T60 or something on my TJ. I'd look for myself but it's freezing out.

The real question is what is the answer you want worth? Yes they can be removed. It is a pain. It's a real pain in the ass if you want the post gone also. To get the head rest off you have to take the fabric off. There are two clips on the inside that hold it to the post. Pull the clips and they come right off. This was enough for my seats to sit flat and not ruin the leather on the head rest. If you want the post gone you will have to take seat fabric off un bolt the folding mechanism and unhook cable. You all but have to take the seat out to accomplish this.
Are you able to give me a pointer on how to undo the clips that hold leather cover on the headrest? Your solution is genius! I want to have son's booster w/high back attached, since there aren't airbags in the back but the stupid headrest pushes it in straight and is uncomfortable, for long trips (when it's most needed).

Same request here, if you could write down some instructions, that would be much appreciated. Please let us know if you had to open the seat up, the hardway :)

I was able to remove the two clips on the bottom of each headrest cushion. Removing the cushion gave me enough room to install the car seat properly. (Pic is for reference where the clips are)

Thanks! I searched through numerous videos and posts and this was the correct fix for my 2020 Jeep wrangler sport. The key to it is popping the plastic retainer loose on the headrest fabric. It is hidden well. Just feel around for the hard plastic and put some muscle into it. Once loose you also have to put some muscle into pushing the foam out of the way. I had to use 2 hands and have somebody hold a flashlight.

I will make a write-up. But I'm stuck halfway. How do I disconnect the release cable? Is it related to that little box I'm holding?

You (I think in every state) can take your vehicle to any police or fire station, and they will help you get your car seats installed correctly. If they don't already know how to remove the headrests, they will probably be able to find someone who does.

Not reading the entire thread but do they not just pull off the mounting poles like the 2 door rear?

Yes! I did! Atleast one side. I need to see if the otherside is the same.

Nope haha. Quite non-trivial removal.
