My 2018 JLU Sport is at the dealership right now! After diagnostics on Saturday, they confirmed I DID NOT have a battery or starter problem. Ok, let me back up. Last Friday, July 31st, I drove home from work (about a 1-hour Interstate 90% of the way, cruising between 55-69mph pending). I get home, get out, announcing to the fam that I am home, and let's go get dinner (curbside pick-up). Lights come on, won't start. Starter doesn't even engage. Try it again, lights and clicks are going bizarre. I make sure I'm in 'Park'. Turn everything 'off'. I try again, nothing. I pop the hood, disconnect the battery terminals, wait 10 minutes, reconnect battery, wait another 5 minutes, same thing. Starter doesn't even wink; meanwhile the all the electronic displays are kinda schizing-out. I called the dealership, thinking I might get some advise. They gave me the dealership's tow-service number. That's fine. What am I gonna do? Tow-guy shows up in record time (seriously, he really did; like 20 minutes). It's a flatbed. Problem is that mine is an automatic and it's stuck in park. A little YouTube and figure out how to pop the panel forward of the gear-switch and manually pull the draw-cable neutral override. Jeep is towed to the dealership. I arrive to the service shop just a hair after opening. paperwork...and now the wait. It wasn't too bad. By 2pm, I received a call from 'Bob'. "Sir, it's not the battery or the starter." I said, "I know. I told you that this morning." Anyway, the 'master-tech' will see it first thing Monday morning. What can I do, but wait? Monday at 1pm, I receive a call from Bob. He said, "the bad news is that we don't have the 'CAN buss connector' in stock. Should be here by Thursday or Friday." So now I'm just waiting. We'll see. I'll keep you posted, especially if it ends up being the same part #. I definitely feel like less of a man in my wife's 2015 Honda Fit. At least it's not a Prius.
I would also like to know what finally fixed the problem. We are having the same issue.
For mine, it was the <CAN buss connector>. I haven't had a problem since then. Although the connection behind the dash seems to be a little quirky lately. I should go double check my connections. What did you find out? Our 2015 one is doing the same?
