A more flexible, albeit more expensive, alternative is the Teraflex Alpha HD Adjustable Spare Tire Mount Kit w/ Brake Light & Camera Mounts. It's not only height adjustable, but adjustable for wheel offset, so you can snug your spare tire against the rear gate bump stops.

If you use the simpler, non-adjustable relocation brackets and need longer bump stops, the JK had longer ones that fit the JL, too.
I thought long abs hard before I purchased my Teraflex hd carrier and tailgate reinforcement for my jlurd. I love the thing. Great for 35s or 37s. I moved my 35 up to the highest setting and I still actually gained visibility because you ditch the oem tail light. Also the ability to compensate for offset so I can snug the entire tire up to the gate is awesome.

One comment I'll add regarding the Teraflex unit, in order to remove your spare, you must first loosen the cam lock thumb lever to allow removal of the brake light, which also requires disconnecting the electrical connector from the bottom of the light which isn't ideal. I am planning on adding a small disconnect plug in the wiring that will tuck into the wiring opening in the camera snout.
Just curious, how would adding another connector be better than just unplugging the existing plug on the 3rd brake lamp? I used to have the Alpha HD carrier, and it was just as simple as it can be to take the 3rd brake light out of play without any tools.

That particular ease of use is what I miss most about that carrier.

Yes, and I highly recommend it over those half baked relocation brackets and methods of extending the rubber bumpers. Very much worth the rather small extra cost of doing it right.

And I don't mean to insult anyone. Those who are familiar with me know that I follow the buy once cry once approach when it comes to my Jeep.

My fat fingers have a difficult time getting access to manipulate the plug when the brake light is mounted to the Teraflex bracket.

Roger that. I vaguely remember having to use my index finger to unlatch that plug because it was too closed off for my thumb. If I kept that carrier longer, I would've eventually carved some of those little plastic walls back a bit. Fortunately, the Alphas camera tube has plenty of room to tuck a weatherproof connector into it, to not sheer it off while sliding the spare on and off.
